Loss to the bullpen

17 September 2004

today in baseball Oakland 3, Seattle 6 at Safeco Field

Winning Pitcher – Ron Villone (6-5)
Losing Pitcher – Chad Bradford (5-6)

OAK Runs: 3, Hits: 9, Errors: 2
SEA Runs: 6, Hits: 10, Errors: 1

HR: OAK: McLemore (2)
Oakland Record: (85-62)

The bullpen is KILLING ME!!! When the starting pitcher hands you a lead, you maintain it. Is it so very hard to do?! Blah!

I got to go home early today. Thank goodness! The husband had ribs (from Chili’s) ready for dinner. Yum!

The dogs get groomed in the morning. Lucky them. LOL!

# 10 for Harden

16 September 2004

And the A's win! Texas 4, Oakland 5 at Network Associates Coliseum

Winning Pitcher – Rich Harden (10-6)
Losing Pitcher – Kenny Rogers (16-8)

TEX Runs: 4, Hits: 7, Errors: 1
OAK Runs: 5, Hits: 12, Errors: 2

My postgame alert didn’t arrive in my inbox. That’s two days in a row! Or is it going to arrive late? 😛

AP Photos follow…

Bobby. Nice.

Harden getting ready to pitch…

Let’s hear it for the young ones! 😉

Loss # 5 for Mulder

15 September 2004

today in baseball Texas 10, Oakland 3 at Network Associates Coliseum

Winning Pitcher – Ryan Drese (13-8)
Losing Pitcher – Mark Mulder (17-5)

TEX Runs: 10, Hits: 14, Errors: 1
OAK Runs: 3, Hits: 10, Errors: 1

HR: TEX: Soriano (28), Teixeira (36), Blalock (30).
Oakland Record: (84-61)

I see dreams of the Cy Young award fading away. Alas.

Mulder on the mound and in the dugout…

Mulder looked decent the first five innings (in spite of giving up the one run in the first), then he just fell apart. What’s going on with him?

Harden cute in the sweatshirt, Melhuse and Scutaro kinda close, Mulder pondering his loss, Zito looking cool or maybe cold…

The only good thing about losing is that Anaheim also lost, so the A’s still have their lead in the AL west. Small comfort. They can’t keep playing in this suckass manner. It’s depressing…

Loss #12 for Redman

14 September 2004

today in baseball Texas 12, Oakland 9 at Network Associates Coliseum

Winning Pitcher – Doug Brocail (4-1)
Losing Pitcher – Mark Redman (10-12)

TEX Runs: 12, Hits: 15, Errors: 0
OAK Runs: 9, Hits: 13, Errors: 2

HR: TEX: M. Young (20). OAK: S. Hatteberg (15), A. Melhuse (10).
Oakland Record: (84-60)

Sometimes I hate that we don’t get some of the local (KICU) games here in the Central Valley. It’s on the MLB ticket, but for some reason we fall under the local blackout thing and so we are blacked out. NOT FAIR!

Venting and babblings…

14 September 2004

listening to... “If You’re Not the One” – Daniel Bedingfield

I didn’t have time to do my screenshots block, so here you go:

Hudson, Byrnes, Bobby, Scutaro and Durazo and Melhuse from last night’s game

On our way to work we listened to a lot of different radio talk shows, sports oriented. Of course, last night’s ruckus was the main topic. I agreed with most of the stuff said. For the most part, everyone agreed that the chair throwing was inexcusable and such. But some people wanted to blame the fans. From the stuff I saw (and they kept showing it over and over), the fans were not stepping onto the playing field. Everything I saw showed the Ranger players heading for the seats.

Personally, I was glad to hear that Francisco got arrested and booked. It’s on tape. He cannot argue his actions.

As for the fans, don’t the players have thicker skin that to worry about what some drunk guy is saying or yelling or howling? And those who want to blame security should take a better look at the tape. You can clearly see the security fellow standing between the players and the stands to keep the two separated. It’s not his fault that twenty or so players streamed out of the dugout to make things worse.

And boo hoo hoo, Buck Showalter. If you think your baby players are getting too razzed, maybe you should spend more time with the Red Sox or Yankees. I am quite sure that those players hear worse in more places than Oakland. How dare you blame the fans for what happened. NONE of those fans deserved to have a chair thrown at them. And no one should expect to have their nose broken by a flying chair thrown by a player.

Can you all tell that the game isn’t on tv for us here in the Central Valley? Blah! LOL! And from the looks of it, I won’t know the result until the morning. 😛

Win for the bullpen

13 September 2004

And the A's win! Texas 6, Oakland 7 at Network Associates Coliseum
[10 innings]

Winning Pitcher – Justin Duchscherer (6-6)
Losing Pitcher – Francisco Cordero (3-2)

TEX Runs: 6, Hits: 12, Errors: 1
OAK Runs: 7, Hits: 8, Errors: 1

HR: TEX: M. Teixeira (35). OAK: B. Crosby (20).
Oakland Record: (84-59)

The good things about this game: THEY WON!!! 😀 Bobby hit his 20th home run! The game went into extra innings and the boys battled back to win.

The bad things about this game: Mecir blew the save. He had TWO outs in the top of the 9th and he gave up a HOME RUN. What kind of crap is that?! Tim Hudson didn’t get the win he deserved. He pitched 8 great innings and came away with zilch. Nada. NOTHING.

The very BAD thing about this game: The woman with the broken nose. A chair came flying INTO the seats along the first base side and hit a woman on the face. According to reports, she suffered a broken nose and lacerations. Frank Francisco of the Texas Rangers appears (as they like to say) to throw the chair into the seats.

In normal circumstances, that is called ASSAULT. If I was that woman, I would be pressing charges and making sure that the player in question (and it’s on freakin’ tape) gets handcuffed and taken away. But in this baseball world, the fans were told that if anyone took the field, the game would be forfeited to the Rangers.

Excuse me? A fan is assaulted and sustains injury because of a player on the Rangers, but if a fan takes the field (which no one did!) the game goes to the Rangers? What kind of crap is that?!

I know I don’t know the whole story. But buck up, Rangers. You’ve got fans talking shit and you’re scared? From what I’ve read, no one threw anything onto the field. It was all verbal. What the hell could someone say to you that you’ve got to throw a chair at them?

There are no excuses. None at all. Especially since Francisco came from the dugout, as did the rest of the team, and he took it upon himself to throw the chair.

And I won’t say that the fans aren’t responsible in some way. But certainly that woman who was injured didn’t have anything to do with the ruckus. Come on.

#11 for Zito!

12 September 2004

And the A's win! Cleveland 0, Oakland 1 at Network Associates Coliseum

Winning Pitcher – Barry Zito (11-10)
Losing Pitcher – Jake Westbrook (12-8)
SV – Octavio Dotel(34)

CLE Runs: 0, Hits: 5, Errors: 0
OAK Runs: 1, Hits: 5, Errors: 1

HR: OAK: E. Durazo (22).
Oakland Record: (83-59)

Zito was on fire! A good game for him. Dotel made it a little exciting in the ninth, but he managed to pull through. Thank goodness!

Zito on the mound…

This time I didn’t take a nap during the game, but I guess I could have after Durazo’s home run. LOL! No scoring after that! Instead I took screenshots to occupy my time…

Zito, Chavez, Miller in the dugout, Bobby at the plate, Zito interviewing during the game, Chavez interviewing before the game…

And so now it’s Sunday night. I never look forward to Mondays. I can already feel the week weighing down on me. Blah. And why am I tired already?!
