A’s 2, Cubs 3

This game was actually on tv today! The Hubby recorded it for me (from the third inning on) and I actually got to see Zito go up to bat. He’s a sight with a bat in his hand. LOL!

BRIDAL SHOWER: HAWAIIAN STYLE

I attended a bridal shower today! My friend is getting married in Hawaii next month and today was her bridal shower. It was fun! I got to see my friends and catch up with them. 😀 I took some pictures. I’m downloading them now.

The party was Hawaiian themed since the wedding will be in Hawaii. We had sushi (my assignment for the party), macaroni salad, Chinese Chicken salad, fruit salad, chips, and cake. Twas all yummy!

My horoscope and other musings

Horoscope (by Astrocenter.com)

Stop dwelling on old projects and routines that are based on situations that have long since expired, dear Taurus. Note the change that has occurred around you, and make the necessary adjustments to your future plans. This is the perfect time for you to honestly examine your current situation without bias. Being aggressive in your approach toward improvement and change means identifying the old and letting go of whatever no longer serves you. Move forward with courage instead of hesitation and resentment.

Wicked! I thought that was an amusing horoscope. 😉

In case anyone cares, I’ve added a site feed for this blog. If you have a newsreader, you can pick up my site. The URL is on the side there (site feed). 😀 Something different and weird. LOL!

I’ve thumbnailed my work photos, but I haven’t decided on what I want to write, so it’ll be awhile before the pictures are up. Maybe sometime this weekend. Or Monday. Or Tuesday. 😉

Split squad action. 😛

I should write about my last day, but I’m tired now. I think I need to go to bed first. More later!

My last words
My last words upon the board…

HERE IT IS, THE LAST DAY…

26 March 2004

listening to... “Fine and Mellow” by Billie Holiday

My last day of work is upon me. I have to be at work early for my day shift potluck. Isn’t that sweet, they’re having lunch for me! I feel loved. I’m going to miss all of them. (I keep saying that, don’t I?)

It looks like a sunnier day today, but cool. The cleaning lady is here and the dogs are in the garage. Saffy is squeaking and barking because of all the noise. She’s such a silly dog.

The routine of my days has ended. Cleaning day Friday is always a different kind of routine, one that only happens every two weeks. I just realized that my regular routine had its final run yesterday.

0830 hrs – Wake up, let the dogs out. Piddle online for about an hour checking email and reading news.

0930 hrs – Shower, do my hair, think about what to eat for lunch.

1030-1045 hrs – Start lunch, then eat it. 😉 An episode of Coupling would be on the tv because I have the DVD in the player.

1140 hrs (or so) – Drive to work. It’s about 45-50 minutes from here.

1300 hrs – Start work.

2115 hrs – Stop work and head to the locker room to change.

2130 hrs (or so) – Drive home.

And that was my routine for the last year or so…

MY LAST THURSDAY AT WORK…

And so it comes to this. In 24 hours, I will be sitting here unemployed. YE GODS!

Tonight was a decent one at work. It still wasn’t as easy as Monday, but I was finished before quitting time.

The skies were gray and cloudy as I drove to work. By the time I got to Livermore, little droplets of rain dried upon my windshield.

I’m still getting the “Is it true, you’re leaving?” comments from people. Everyone is saying nice things to me. It’s nice to know they’ll notice when I’m gone. I’m really sad about leaving some of these people. They’ve been lovely.

Dinner in staff dining was lasagna with various leftovers from the retirement party in the afternoon. Yummy cheese filled pasta salad and potato salad complimented the meal. It was actually nice. I want it to be my last meal, but I’m probably going to eat in there tomorrow night.

My last dinner with both of my friends. Our last dinner together and it was a good one. I’m glad for that.

Tomorrow is going to be strange. I hope I don’t cry…

But the real bad news is Mark Ellis. Six to eight weeks out because of a separated right shoulder. BUMMER!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KV!

And I know he’ll never read this. LOL!

MY LAST WEDNESDAY AT WORK…

A sunny and cool day driving towards Dublin. It’s springtime, though it has definitely cooled down from last week. I like it. It feels good.

The hump day. My last hump day at work.

Work was all right. Since we were doing the “going away” dinner for me late, I was all caught up before dinner time finally came around. When I got back from eating, I had lots of work, but everything was in. So it was all good.

KV came by my desk, asking when my last day would be. He’s going to be working on Friday, so once again we did not say our goodbyes quite yet. We chatted for a bit. I’m so going to miss him!

The party was a lowkey. Great food from Rigatoni’s. Chicken pesto and spaghetti. Yum! I took a couple of pictures. I guess I’d better start moving on that! I’ll probably take lots of pictures on Friday. I can’t believe I have merely two more days of work. CRAZY!

BASEBALL

A’s 7, Rangers 3 – I’m going to get spoiled with all these A’s wins! They need to save that for the regular season. 😛

LET ME ADD…

As I was walking out tonight, the sergeant (filling in for our regular sergeant) stopped me and asked if I’ve quit. I went into his office and replied with a yes. He asked me why and I told him that “officially” I was tired of the commuting. He picked up on the “official” part and asked about it. I actually told him the truth. I’m tired of all the politics, even though it doesn’t directly affect me, but it was just getting on my nerves. He understood, I think. He wished me well and off I went…

I forgot to say that there were promotions today. SEVENTEEN promotions. How will the esteemed leader justify promoting seventeen people when he supposedly can’t find money to pay for us? Isn’t the department getting top heavy? The latest rumor is that ALL the technicians are getting pink slips on Friday. I think that’s why the promotions feel like a slap in the face to all of us. The department is SCREWED.
