Can I just say I love this not working thing?

today in baseball A’s articles of note

In pinch, Byrnes delivers in opener – by Chris Haft, Mercury News at Yahoo! Sports
A nice recap of last night’s home opener. Go Byrnes! 😀

Rangers get ‘Byrned’ in opener – by Mychael Urban for MLB.com
Another recap, this time from the official A’s site. Oh, and it’s Mychael Urban, probably my favorite A’s sports writer online. 😀 He just says the funniest things sometimes!

Mulder looking for fresh start
A preview of tonight’s game against the Rangers. Mentioned here because it’s MULDER. 😀

Mulderism:
“I don’t look at anyone I face as being better or worse than anyone else. They’re all big-league hitters.” — Mulder, on the perception that the Rangers are the weakest team in the AL West.

And in the non-baseball reality…

Wait, I have a non-baseball reality?

Yesterday was a full day of baseball watching for me. There was the grocery shopping break, but other than that, it was all sports all day! A guy’s dream, eh? We even watched some basketball (NCAA Championship, anyone?). But my heart was in all the baseball games. Twas GLORIOUS!

Last night was the full moon. I should have tried to take a picture of that one. Oh well!

The roses in the backyard are really starting to bloom nicely. And I love taking pictures of them.

A rose in the garden

Now it’s time for me to start my writing. What shall it be today?…

Opening Night in Oakland…

5 April 2004

A’s 5, Rangers 4

Network Associates Coliseum

Winning Pitcher – Chad Bradford (1-0)
Losing Pitcher – Jeff Nelson (0-1)
SV – Arthur Rhodes(1)

TEX Runs: 4, Hits: 11, Errors: 1
OAK Runs: 5, Hits: 9, Errors: 0

Oakland Record: (1-0)

Well, Tim Hudson didn’t get the win, but the A’s did on Eric Byrnes’ pinch hit double and Arthur Rhodes’ 9th inning save. It was a handwringing kind of game after a whole day of baseball for me. I started watching baseball in the morning and this was the last game of the day. Whew!

Tomorrow, Mark Mulder takes the mound. And I won’t get to watch it on tv because I live in the freakin’ Central Valley and the affiliate out here won’t be carrying the game. Bunch of CRAP! Grrrrr!!!!

😛

I saw a little of Barry Zito in the pre-game show. He mentioned JAG. 😉 And then Mulder came out with Scott Hatteberg with the surfboard for the Bethany Hamilton gal. Ahh, it was nice seeing the fellas. 😀

Opening Night in Baltimore

4 April 2004

Red Sox 2, Orioles 7
I only make note of the game because it was the first official game on American soil. 😉 Oh, and the Orioles won! (I’ve had a thing for the Orioles since I met the Husband.) Miguel Tejada went 2-4. Good for him! It was so strange seeing him in black shoes. But I do wish him well. 😉

Looked like a very chilly day in Baltimore. Everyone was bundled up! I hope I’m not so bundled up for my first baseball game. Whenever that may be. 😛

ESPN’s preview of the 2004 A’s

I am in such a baseball mood. Bring it on!

And so spring training comes to an end…

4 April 2004

today in baseball A’s 5, Giants 5
A tie? Well sure, why not? I’m sure the Giants fans weren’t happy, but they have to realize that their boys must catch the plane to Houston. As an A’s chick, I’m okay with the whole tie thing. 😉 Here’s to a great season of Bay Area baseball! Go A’s! 😀

Hello to the ones who visit!

Luz, I hope you had a good time at the ballpark! It looks like it was a chilly one at Pac Bell Park. (I’m one of those weird people who’s going to refuse to call it SBC Park.) And Hellboy was cool! Not scary. Well, I didn’t think so. 😉

Heya Irish! I hope you’re having a good weekend too! Snow? Ye gods! No snow here. We’ve got the lovely Central Valley weather out here. Sunny skies, breezy winds, bright sunshine. I love living in California.

Saturday Afternoon

3 April 2004

today in baseball A’s 11, Giants 10
Twas a wild one! It wouldn’t have gone to extra innings if Arthur Rhodes had done his job and closed out the game. Grrrr! But hey, go Jermaine Dye! 😉 And how do you pronounce Scutaro?

::celeste::, Hellboy was a better movie than The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which pains me to say about a Sean Connery flick. I’d probably watch a sequel to Hellboy first before a sequel to The League. Alas!

Afternoon Musings

I actually did some rose pruning this morning. I put on a turtleneck and overalls and I ventured out to the backyard. Oh, and I had my hat on. I probably looked like a total dork, but I cleaned up my roses a bit. They look better. Hopefully they grow better. 😛

3 April 2004

listening to... “All or Nothing” by Diana Krall
today in baseball A’s trio ready for ’04 – A nice article about The Big Three. 😉

Happy freakin’ Friday!

2 April 2004

today in baseball A’s 4, Giants 0 – It’s always nice when my boys win. 😉 But poor Byrnesy! Ye gods, hit in the helmet?!

MOVIE TIME

We saw Hellboy today! We were debating between that, The Prince and Me, Jersey Girl, and something else, but we decided on Hellboy. I enjoyed it! I thought it was well done. Action, humor, romance. All the good stuff. 😉

BOOKS

I didn’t read my book for March. I suck! But I picked up a romance book of two stories and just finished it up. “The Bachelor’s Bed” by Jill Shalvis and “Accidental Wife” by Day Leclaire. Both decent stories. Of course, it just made me want to write my own. It could happen. Oh yes, it could happen…
