Maybe it’s a good thing we didn’t stay home to watch the game. Alas! Now they’re on their way home. They open up the homestand on Tuesday against the Yankees.

“Laws of Attraction”

Instead of staying home, we took advantage of our Brenden Theatre gift certificates with a matinee showing of the Pierce Brosnan/Julianne Moore film Laws of Attraction. I loved it! You know, it’s nice seeing movies featuring ADULTS. Know what I mean? Well, maybe if you’re my age, you knwo what I mean. 😉

Before the movie started, we were treated (some might say tortured) to an inordinate amount of trailers. My favorite ones: Troy (and not just because of Orlando Bloom) and The Notebook (but definitely because of Ryan Gosling). Troy has that epic grandeur. I am very curious about how the movie will treat the story. I never really thought of Menelaus being that much older than Helen. And I always understood that Helen loved her husband. But hey, I could be wrong. Oh, and will they treat Achilles as the almost immortal that he was? Yes, I want to know!… As for The Notebook, I am looking forward very much to seeing it. Because of Ryan? Absolutely. But also because I like the story. When I heard that Ryan was going to star in the movie, I picked up the book and read it. It’s really a lovely story. 🙂

Speaking of books…

Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife: Pride and Prejudice Continues – I haven’t read it yet, but I started while we were in Borders. Even though I had told myself I wouldn’t dare read another sequel to a classic (Scarlett, anyone?), I couldn’t resist this one. Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite novels and the mini-series with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle is one of my favorites as well. So, I’m taking a chance.

Why is the Foul Pole Fair? – I finished that book at the Honolulu airport. I really enjoyed it! If you like baseball, it’s a neat look into the history and quirks of the game. 😀

Ahhh, baseball…

And the A's win! Oakland 6, Tampa Bay 5 at Tropicana Field

Winning Pitcher – Chris Hammond (2-1)
Losing Pitcher – Lance Carter (0-1)

OAK Runs: 6, Hits: 11, Errors: 0
TB Runs: 5, Hits: 11, Errors: 0

Oakland Record: (12-12)

Woohoo, we’re back at .500. 😉

We were watching the Cubs/Cardinals game on FSN and can I just say how much I dislike utterly biased tv announcers? I guess if you’re a fan of the team they’re broadcasting (in this case, the Cubbies), then I guess it’s all right. But if you’re a fan of the other team, it’s downright insulting! I guess I’m spoiled, because I feel that the A’s broadcasters give balanced play-by-plays of the games. I’m probably wrong, but that’s the A’s fan in me talking. 😛 But in general, I don’t like listening to other local broadcasters if I end up liking the other team. Hence, I enjoy watching baseball games on ESPN (they definitely give more balanced rundowns of the games) and of course, A’s games by A’s broadcasters. Although I’m not sure I’m digging the new guy though.

THE MATRIX TRILOGY

Last night, we watched all three films back to back to back. Ye gods! We had seen the first and second movies in the theatre, but last night was our first time seeing the last movie. I must say, I liked the first movie the best. Lots of action in the third movie, but I’m still pondering about its end…

Finally, a win!

And the A's win! Oakland 4, Tampa Bay 2 at Tropicana Field

Winning Pitcher – Mark Redman (2-1)
Losing Pitcher – Doug Waechter (1-1)

OAK Runs: 4, Hits: 4, Errors: 0
TB Runs: 2, Hits: 8, Errors: 0

Oakland Record: (11-12)

Woohoo, they won! No thanks to Arthur Rhodes though. He gave up TWO homeruns. Bah!

I must work on my Hawaii pictures! Well, here’s one:

VALERIE translates to WALELIA in Hawaiian, so this is MY street! LOL!

“Walelia” is the Hawaiian translation of “Valerie,” which is my name. 😉 So, here I am on my street. LOL! Groovy, eh? How did I find it? Well, before we left for Hawaii, I was looking at a street map of the area and saw Walelia Place. I didn’t take down directions, but I remembered the cross street and while we were driving around, we found it. Yeah, I’m good. 😛

Trying out the Gmail

Because I’m a regular Blogger, I got an invite to use Gmail. Well, I’m trying it out. Heck, why not? I haven’t passed out the email address (I really don’t need any junk email), but I suppose if I really want to make it useful, I’m going to need to let people know about it. I know this, I’m not going to publish my email addy on any of my sites! Or if I do, I’m going to make it hard for those email address harvesters (is there such a thing?). 😛 Know what I mean?

Baseball, oh woe is me!

I miss Kauai…

29 April 2004

I need to work on my pictures from our trip! I fiddled with them yesterday and burned them on to a CD for viewing, but I need to work on the online versions. And then there are the pictures from our anniversary party. Ye gods!

Right now I’m at the Husband’s workplace. Yes, again. And no, I don’t work here now. 😛 We’re going to visit my mom today after work. Hence, I can’t work on my pictures right now.

This time last week (wow, I was in Hawaii a week ago!), we checked out the North Shore. Although it’s supposedly the rainy side, our day there was sunny with some clouds. We drove through Princeville (developed with resort type places and lovely golf courses) and checked out Hanalei. While we were down there, we checked out some shops. We bought doggie treats for our doggies! LOL! While we were in that store, we overheard the employees telling a couple of customers about how the store had just gotten robbed a couple of hours before. Scary!

Update on the former workplace

I chatted with my friend yesterday. She took over my old position, but now she’s free from the office and doing meal relief. She’s happier, though the way TIIC handled the whole thing is just horrible. Now someone who doesn’t know how to do the office is doing my former job. Ye gods! It’s like they don’t care about the work, they just want someone with a badge doing it now.

Pathetic.

I told her to tell my favorites hello. I should have told her to tell everyone else hello too. 😉 Ahhh well, I can email her or call her again.

Baseball woes

Mulder lost. Ugh! They’re making me mad. I didn’t even watch the whole game yesterday because they’re making me mad. And like I said yesterday, I do not like when they lose. But it’s even more frustrating when it’s Mulder who gives it up.

Grrrrr!

Baseball while we were away…
