Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
4 June 2004
Yes, this morning we headed out to our local movie theatre and watched the first showing of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. What were we thinking? The auditorium filled up quite nicely. Lots of younger people (teens, children) and parents. We sat in the top row, which wasn’t that bad at all.
The first trailer that came up was for The Notebook. Have I mentioned that I really want to see that movie? Ryan Gosling in a “normal” role! How utterly wonderful. LOL! There was also a trailer for Spider Man 2. (I still haven’t seen the first one!) Hmmm, I can’t remember if there were more. Ah well.
And the movie? I LOVED IT!
I’m glad I’ve read the books (I’ll probably re-read them for the next movie) because I understood more of the film because I could fill in some spots. But as its own entity, the movie is fantastic. Dark, yes, but tighter in plot.
Well done! 😀
We stopped by Waldenbooks after the movie and I started reading the next Harry Potter book, even though I knew I wasn’t going to buy it. I should just go to the library and check it out, eh?
Now I’m off to work on my Greg site. Got new pictures! 😀
Extra innings, again…
3 June 2004
“Cadillac Dress” by soulDecision (yeah, again…)
The boys are in extra innings. Again. Eric Byrnes doubled to start the bottom of the 11th. I should just turn on the radio, but I’d rather listen to my iTunes playlist, On-the-Go 2. Yeah, doesn’t mean a thing. LOL!
Woohoo, they won!
“Jermaine Dye out on a sacrifice fly to center fielder Vernon Wells. Eric Byrnes scores.”
Blue Jays 1, Oakland 2 at Network Associates Coliseum
Winning Pitcher – Chad Bradford (3-1)
Losing Pitcher – Terry Adams (4-4)
TOR Runs: 1, Hits: 6, Errors: 1
OAK Runs: 2, Hits: 7, Errors: 2
Oakland Record: (29-23)
There, did that all by myself. LOL!
Hearts to…
Nicole – Thank you very much for the photo comments. It was a very nice wedding. My first Chinese banquet! 😀 And I would love to go to Sunday’s game and take pictures of your fella. I just have the problem of convincing the hubby that we should go to a day game all the way in Oakland. 😛 I’d probably have a better chance of going to tomorrow night’s game. Less people. And what do you have Ryan Gosling?!
I’m fighting temptation
My friend is online. I want to IM him, but it’s probably his wife and if I’m right, I won’t get a reply back. (We haven’t met yet and she never replies to his contacts.) So instead of feeling that rejection (though there’s a logical explanation), I refrain from beginning a conversation.
I should go read another book…
Books are most glorious things!
3 June 2004Or, Must have more Harry Potter!!!
Oh my gosh, I think I’ve become slightly obsessed. I finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire this morning and then read Wil Wheaton’s Dancing Barefoot this evening. Finished that too!

I’ve got the book, now I want to see the movie. It’ll be nice to see Ryan Gosling in a more mainstream movie. 😉
We had a late lunch (or was it an early dinner) at John’s again. Neat-oh place! Decent food and different themed rooms in which to sit. And for the kiddies of your group, they have the “fun” section. Games and rides (like bumper cars and such).
After food, we visited CompUSA (took a look at those groovy Clie’s), Borders (saw a book and should have bought it!), Barnes and Noble (it was nice seeing Ryan Gosling’s face on the cover of The Notebook), and Yesterday’s Books (see below).

Bought Red Dwarf (who knew it was book?) there…
I’m TEMPTED to buy the next Harry Potter book, but I think I’m going to wait until it comes out in paperback. OR I’m just going to buy the whole hardback set, even though at this point I have the first four books in paperback. Such a dilemna…
Things baseball
Why does MLB.com still have Mark McLemore in his Oriole uniform when he’s on the A’s now? Ye gods. And why can’t I watch this game on tv? The folks in the Bay Area get to watch it on KICU 36, a channel we do not get in the Central Valley. For some reason, I can’t even get the Toronto feed, which is on the Ticket, because we are considered part of A’s market and there the Toronto feed is blacked out. BUT WE DON’T LIVE IN THE BAY AREA. Does this make any sense?
Dreamy dreams
I dreamt about Australia and New Zealand. I think I was visiting. But Australia was much smaller in my dream. It was all very confusing…
Never got my postgame email…
2 June 2004
Chi White Sox 2, Oakland 3 at Network Associates Coliseum
Winning Pitcher – Arthur Rhodes (2-3)
Losing Pitcher – Jon Adkins (2-2)
CWS Runs: 2, Hits: 11, Errors: 1
OAK Runs: 3, Hits: 8, Errors: 1
Oakland Record: (28-23)
I think I did that right. 😛
And some love to the ones who comment…
Olivia – Thanks for stopping by. I’ve added you to my “blogs of note” list. 😉 Even though my A’s have won these past couple of games, it’s still upsetting sometimes when they give up the lead or someone goes out injured. You just have to keep loving them no matter what, I suppose.
Luz – That dinner was most delicious! 😉 Good food is always a welcome thing. LOL!
Wah – If I ever write a movie, Ryan Gosling will definitely have a place in it. LOL! Along with (watch out, the list is long): Mark Mulder (should he have any acting ambitions/talents), William Gregory Lee (very talented and cute to boot), Carlos Ponce (he can do the bilingual thing, yowsa!), Jensen Ackles (most lovely voice and he can make you cry too), Karl Urban (he’s wonderful!), Charles Mesure (another one with a lovely voice), and perhaps that’s enough for now. LOL!… Photo Day is for everyone who has a ticket for that day’s game. No extra money! So come on down, if you can. 🙂 Get there early!

Mulder pitching today…
Wedding pictures up!
The pictures from my friend’s wedding are online for your viewing pleasure. 🙂 If you feel like looking at pictures from a wedding. LOL!
Currently reading…
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – Good stuff so far. I’m on page 172. I bet I can finish it before the weekend. But then what?! 😛
Chavez placed on the DL
2 June 2004I’m still rather upset about the whole thing. Totally SUCKS!
The good thing is that the A’s won today. Woohoo! Postgame numbers when I get the email. 😉
Chavez out with a broken hand…
2 June 2004Star third baseman to miss ‘at least’ three weeks – OH MY GOODNESS.
NOOOOOOOO!!!
Fine, I know that things can happen. But because the game went into extra innings, Eric Chavez broke his hand. Stay with me here. If the game had not gone to extra innings, Chavez would have gone home with a healthy hand and been in today’s game and probably tomorrow’s and so it goes.
If I were the one who gave up that homerun in the ninth inning, I’d be feeling mighty guilty right now. MIGHTY GUILTY!!!
The day after the holiday…
1 June 2004
Chi White Sox 4, Oakland 6 at Network Associates Coliseum
Winning Pitcher – Justin Duchscherer (3-1)
Losing Pitcher – Neal Cotts (0-3)
CWS Runs: 4, Hits: 10, Errors: 0
OAK Runs: 6, Hits: 11, Errors: 0
Oakland Record: (27-23)
Of course, the line doesn’t say that going into the top of the ninth, the A’s had the lead at 4-3. Guess who came in to close out the game? That’s right, my nemesis, Jim Mecir. He had TWO outs before he gave up a homerun to the White Sox. I had to endure three more innings of WGN morons before Kielty smacked a two run homer in the bottom of the 12th to win the game. Oh, but in the 11th, Chavez got hit in the hand by a pitch. So because of Mecir I was tortured by the clowns calling the game and Chavez left the game injured and Redman’s performance was wasted.
Nice going, Jimmy.
The WGN Sox Dudes – What have I called them so far? Ah, morons and clowns. I watch many sports events on tv and I so detest the Chicago broadcasters. Can we just stop with the whole “good guys” and “bad guys” thing? They are so freakin’ biased when they call the games. And then there’s the whole mispronoucing of the players names. They couldn’t get Kielty or Chavez right. I can ALMOST understand not getting Duchscherer’s name right, but come on, the stadium announcer is freakin’ right there when the relievers are announced. Why can’t they just LISTEN?
Grrrrr!
But hey, GO DUCHSCHERER! I never dread when you’re called to the mound. 😉
Oakland aces prefer to go long – I like this article. I like most of Mychael Urban’s articles. He’s fun to read. 😉
And today was a HOT day…
It’s not even officially summer yet, but it was blazing hot today. Ye gods! I went into work with the Hubby today, which was rather nice. Got to get out of the house and interact with other human beings. I had to wear shorts though. There was no way I was going to try and wear pants today. Even at 0900 hrs, it was starting to simmer outside.
I got to eat at Fuddruckers for lunch. YUM!

See, almost cleaned my plate!
I actually worked a bit on my story too! Amazing, really…
I’m now reading…
I started reading the Harry Potter books over the weekend. I finished up the third one this evening and I’m on the second page of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I’m already confused, but it’s probably because I stopped reading to watch the game. 😛 It’s a bigger book, this fourth one. Maybe I’ll have it finished by the weekend. 😉
See, I wasn’t being ignored…
When I chat with my friends, I never want to bother them. So if I don’t receive replies to my hellos, I rightly figure that they are busy or in some cases not even there. So of course, I was most pleasantly surprised to get an IM from a friend of mine who just got back into town after doing a project in the Caribbean. Ye gods, gone for a month or so! Anyhoo, I’ve been promised more details later. I hope it’s good news for my friend. 😀
(Don’t you just love the way I’m vague? LOL!)
And in parting…
I was going to give some love to my commenters, but alas, I can’t get to my comments! Oh well, what can you do?
Until tomorrow then!
