Good morning from Las Vegas!

8 October 2004

Music: “I Only Have Eyes for You” – Harry Connick Jr.

Can you believe that my very first night here I was already in bed by 8:30pm? Now that should be the real sin in Sin City. LOL!

Our view here from the Flamingo is spectacular at night. All the lights! Our suite is awesome! It’s bigger than the apartment we had long ago. Totally cool! I have of course taken pictures. The master bathroom is lovely. I need to get some bubblebath stuff for the tub.

I’ve finished writing postcards. I love sending out postcards when I’m on a trip! I try to do them as early as possible. But because of Monday’s holiday, I’m sure my postcards will arrive at their destinations after we’ve gotten home. Ah well!

Yesterday we had lunch at Margaritaville. I had crab cakes to go along with a delicious drink called Havanas Bananas. Yummy! I didn’t take my camera to the restaurant so no pics from there. Alas!

And now I’m popping peanut M&Ms while listening to my iPod. Breakfast! LOL!

More later? Probably!

From the blackberry…

6 October 2004

We’re going to Vegas baby! And I want to see if the emailing to Blogger thing is working. I want to blog while I’m away, even if it’s just short posts. 😉

I can’t believe I’m actually paying attention to the baseball playoffs. My problem is that I don’t really want to cheer for anyone but the Cardinals. I think for the rest of the teams, I’d like to see each go five games. The more baseball, the better!

One day closer to Las Vegas

5 October 2004

listening to... “Over and Over” by Nelly featuring Tim McGraw

We heard bits of the Nelly song on the radio this morning and I just had to download it. Nelly and Tim McGraw? Yeah, way cool and probably the only way I’d download a Nelly song. LOL! Oh yes, it’s a cool song. 🙂

I must say THANK YOU to my Canadian Ryan Fan Friend for the AWESOME slideshow she made for me. She actually made two, one that we both appreciate (as would certain fans of a certain Canadian actor), and the other something *I* definitely love. She’s wonderful!!! 😀

NIP/TUCK

I watched most of the episode and the reason I watched didn’t appear until the end. LOL! Oh well. It was a good episode. Always nice to see Famke Janssen. She’s way cool. And did you know that she appeared in the Star Trek The Next Generation episode “The Perfect Mate”? She did!

Greg appeared at the end. A small part with lines. Groovy. I should have had my camera handy. Oh well. Screenshots next time!

Ramblings…

I started writing part of my baseball story. And for some reason, the story is during spring training at the moment. WEIRD! I’m also handwriting it. Even stranger of me…

I should send some love out to my visitors. I’m too lazy at the moment to name everyone, but I must mention Wah. Thanks for always coming out and commenting! 😀 And shoot, let’s see how far I can go. Much love also to: Meesh, Val, Olivia, Marci, Jen, Amanda (oops, sorry I didn’t see your comment! I don’t have the clip on my computer, but I’ll see what I can do…), Sharon, Robyn, Lisa, and the very wonderful Marni! 😀

Oh, and GO CARDINALS!!! 😉

Network TV bigwigs rail against bloggers

4 October 2004

Network TV bigwigs rail against bloggers | CNET News.com – I found this article interesting. And I think I’m a little offended! If those news journalists were doing their jobs, then the whole fiasco about whatever would not have happened. I could have never been a journalist, but to call people “scandalmongers” is appalling. No one who writes a weblog should be considered the “real” news, but many times a blogger will tell you something you might not otherwise know. Bloggers are allowed to say what they will and they are allowed to voice their opinions. Don’t read it if you don’t like it. But you can’t say the same about tv news. The news shows will jam their opinions down your throat under the guise of “facts.” They’re supposed to give you the facts, not their interpretation of the facts. And they’re supposed to check their facts. Or has something changed?

Anyhoo, I just think it’s an interesting article. And I’m disappointed by those respected news fellas.

The last win of 2004

3 October 2004

listening to... “You’re in my Head” by Brian McComas
And the A's win! Anaheim 2, Oakland 3 at Network Associates Coliseum

Winning Pitcher – Justin Duchscherer (7-6)
Losing Pitcher – Kevin Gregg (5-2)

ANA Runs: 2, Hits: 6, Errors: 0
OAK Runs: 3, Hits: 7, Errors: 1

Oakland Record: (91-71)

Fab Four: Hudson, Mulder, Zito, Harden

A nice way to end the season. A win! Their last of 2004. In spite of the sucky fact that the season is ending without a shot at the postseason, the A’s had a good 2004. It should have been better. But maybe I’ve just been spoiled these past few years.

Zito & Harden, Hatteberg, Byrnes & Ellis, Kotsay

The game itself was groovy. The very last play was nicely done. Scutaro to Crosby to get the force at 2nd. Smashing.

Byrnes, Bobby, Mr. Melhuse, Swisher

And in parting, I must thank the A’s for a wonderful baseball season. Even though it’s not ending quite as we all hoped, it was a great ride all the way. Heartbreak is part of the game, even as a fan. But hey, it shows we care, eh? 😉

I LOVE THE A’S!!!

A look at life after baseball…

October is a busy month for us! We’re off to Las Vegas for a wedding, then it’s spending quality time with our dogs and three Yorkies. At the month’s end, another wedding and I shall be an active participant! What am I going to do with my hair?!

I’ll still be watching some baseball games on TV. GO CARDINALS!!! 😉

I’m going to do my best to post everyday too. It’s good for the little gray cells. 😀 Especially for the aspiring writer in me…

The layout change…

3 October 2004

listening to... “Never Had a Dream Come True” S Club 7

I wish I were more apt to switching up my layout, but I am not. The previous layout, featuring Mark Mulder, was up for quite some time. I believe the whole baseball season! 😛 I just couldn’t bring myself to take him down. And as one of my friends said, the layout was so me. LOL!

But now that my A’s are out of it, I decided a change was needed. So the photo above is featured because I think it’s a neat-oh shot and I took it! Nothing like a little showing off. 😛 But anyhoo, just because I’ve finally taken Mulder down doesn’t mean that I don’t still adore him and the rest of the guys. I do love them all too much.

Now it’s time to let them go. For the off season anyway…

And the season is essentially over…

2 October 2004

listening to... “Next Time” by Billy Currington
today in baseball Anaheim 5, Oakland 4 at Network Associates Coliseum

Winning Pitcher – Brendan Donnelly (5-2)
Losing Pitcher – Ricardo Rincon (1-1)
SV – Troy Percival(33)

ANA Runs: 5, Hits: 7, Errors: 0
OAK Runs: 4, Hits: 7, Errors: 2

HR: ANA: V. Guerrero (39).
Oakland Record: (90-71)

Disappointed cannot begin to describe how I feel right now. Let’s go with heartbroken. I think that will work.

Because living in the Central Valley can suck ass when it comes to watching the A’s, we had to listen to the game on the radio. The gametime was changed to accommodate FOX and subsequently it was taken off our local affiliate because FOX here shows the Giants games. Right, so everytime the A’s were the FOX Saturday game, we always got the Giants game instead. Does that make any kind of sense?

But I digress.

We had to listen to the game on the radio. It wasn’t so bad until the top of the 8th. I wanted to get up, do something, but I was rooted to my computer chair, playing minesweeper as my A’s faded fast from playoff contention.

The season is over a day early. Now there’s absolutely no hope. Just one more game that means nothing. Just one more game.

I hate the score 5-4.

Why do I love them so much still?

::sigh::

And with that I’ve decided that it’s time to change the layout. How does it look? 😉
