Rain, wind, dark clouds…

VOTE for the Oakland Zoo to win $25,000!!!

The weather was weird and freaky while we were on our way home. A huge dark cloud just hung in the sky, fringed by lighter clouds holding the light of the setting sun. Twas creepy cool…

Baseball…

So ye gods, those freakin’ Red Sox! I must really really love baseball to watch the Yankees and Red Sox play and to FEEL anything through the course of the game. It helped that Keith Foulke was on the mound in the ninth and saved the game. And really, did anyone give the Red Sox a chance when they were down 3-0 in the series? Makes a great story for sure.

Of course, the sucky sucky thing is that tomorrow the St. Louis/Houston game will be the early game and we won’t get to watch it in HD. We were already cheated out of watching last night’s game in HD because the aforementioned Red Sox/Yankees decided to go to extra innings into almost the wee hours of the morning. I think we barely got one inning of St. Louis/Houston in HD. Unfair!

Ah well.

I can’t believe I’m still talking about baseball and my A’s aren’t in it. 😛

VOTE for the Oakland Zoo to win $25,000!!!

Baseball…

The Red Sox need to just win this game so that we can finally watch the Cardinals game in HD. Ye gods! The Red Sox and Yankees are tied in the bottom of the 13th at 4 a piece. The Cardinals and Astros are scoreless in the bottom of the 6th.

Haps on Friday: Good food, BAD SERVICE…

We had dinner at a restaurant called Haps in Pleasanton on Friday night. I had the filet mignon and I will say that it was tasty. But why did it take almost two hours for us to get our food?

Granted, we were a party of six. And yes, some of us had appetizers and soup. But that does not excuse the fact that after the last morsel of soup was sipped, it took about FIFTY minutes for us to get our entrees. And THEN, one of the entrees was not cooked correctly (he wanted black and blue and it wasn’t). A manager came over to apologize and offer another entree, but it was not taken. When the waitress finally gave us our check (she started to avoid our table), she did not even apologize for what happened. She acted like all was well.

Haps is a fancy steakhouse type restaurant with higher prices to match. But apparently the higher prices do no include better service. It was DISAPPOINTING. We probably won’t be going there again anytime soon…

Weird dreams…

I keep dreaming about my old workplace. It’s so strange! I had another one last night. It’s rather disturbing. LOL!

Gadget girl…

Have I mentioned how much I love my tech toys? I LOVE MY TECH TOYS! The latest piece of technology recently acquired: the Ogo. It’s a text messaging, emailing, instant messaging device and it’s so CUTE! I like the whole email thing best, though the IMing is pretty cool too. I’ve already chatted on it with one of my online friends. 😀

Back to baseball…

THE RED SOX WIN!!! The bottom of the 14th and it’s over. WOW.

Finally, back home…

VOTE for the Oakland Zoo to win $25,000!!!

It’s so good to be back home. I’m working on the pictures from our long weekend in Las Vegas. Here are some of the highlights…

Views of Las Vegas… from the air, the Eiffel Tower replica, the Stratosphere, the calm water in front of the Bellagio…

From Friday’s wanderings… Fremont Street, The Enterprise at Star Trek the Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton, Zax in the Golden Nugget, my Borg bear (“Resistance is futile!”)

Wedding pictures… the bride and groom, their favors, the cake, the bride and groom caked…

The reception…

And have I mentioned how happy I am that we’re home? It felt so good sleeping in our own bed! 😀

I just want to go HOME!!!

VOTE for the Oakland Zoo to win $25,000!!!– I think I’ll keep posting this link until the contest is over. Must be supportive!!! 😉

We’re housesitting this week. I miss my bed and my pillows and my couch and my computer. I want to work on my pictures from Las Vegas. The good thing about housesitting here is that we’re MUCH closer to work. Commute is under an hour and that is an extra special good thing.

GO CARDINALS!!! Yes, I’m cheering for the Cardinals. I certainly don’t want the Astros to go to the World Series. Heck no! As for the American League, I just hope Boston makes it interesting at some point. Where is the life in that team? Geez.

Jensen Ackles is on Smallville and he’s playing a high school football coach! I caught a glimpse this evening and when Clark (Tom Welling) called Jensen “coach,” I started laughing. Why? Because Jensen is YOUNGER than Tom and yet he’s playing a character older than Clark. Ah well. I should watch that show more often. Tom Welling, Jensen Ackles. Enough said. LOL!

Help the Oakland Zoo win $25,000!!!

12 October 2004

My friend volunteers for the Oakland Zoo and sent me the following message:

As part of the promotion to launch Zoo Tycoon 2, Microsoft has selected15 finalist Zoos from the field of applicants. The Oakland Zoo submitted a substantial proposal and made it to the final 15. Now, it’s up to you– the Zoo who receives the most votes will win $25,000!

We can only win this contest if we have the most votes. Please click on the link below and go to vote. There you can cast your vote. Please share with friends and family. We would love to win this prize!

A grant of $25,000 would go very far at this Zoo. Please help us out and vote, and share this message with anyone who may be interested in helping us win this grant. Get all the details about Zoo Tycoon 2 at the official Microsoft Game Studios site. http://www.microsoft.com/games/zootycoon/

If you’re reading this and feel like helping out, please vote! It would be great to have the Oakland Zoo win the money. 😀

Back from Las Vegas

10 October 2004

So, we’re back in California. I miss our suite at the Flamingo! Ah well.

The wedding yesterday was very lovely. The ceremony was sweet and short. The reception was fun and filling and energetic. ;). Twas nice spending time with friends.

In the evening we managed to catch a glimpse of the watershow at the Bellagio. Beautiful! And then we walked around amid the lights. Caesars Palace looks spectacular from the outside. Next time I want to go in. LOL!

We ate dinner at the coffeeshop (Lindy’s) and ended the evening with a movie in the room (Dodgeball!). And so ended our last night in Las Vegas.

We had everything packed rather quickly in the morning and had breakfast at the buffet. More good food! LOL!

I’ve learned that I don’t like flying as much as before. I didn’t really mind it so much, but now I find myself a little nervous during any kind of turbulence. Ye gods! I don’t like the feeling at all.

But it’s nice to be home. Almost.

Meet Joe Black is on. I like this movie…

Good evening from suite 28087

8 October 2004

I think I’ve got the room number right. 😉

Our first meal of the day was at the lovely Bellagio. Buffets ROCK! Everything I had was good. Or I was really hungry. LOL! It wasn’t noon yet and the day was already very warm. Thank goodness for air conditioned taxicabs!

The monorail isn’t working, so it was three cabs for us today. Cab 1 took us to the Las Vegas Hilton for Star Trek The Experience. Can I just be the total geek and say that the Klingon Encounter is AWESOME? It was super AWESOME! We actually did the Borg Invasion first. It was neat-oh! But the Borg Encounter totally rocked! Very exhilarating. And slightly dizzy. Oh, but so very cool.

We sat down at Quark’s for a drink. I had a lemony drink called the Arcturian Fizz. I sipped as the ST:TNG ep “Measure of a Man” played on the TV.

Cab 2 dropped us at The Golden Nugget. We had to see the casino/hotel featured in The Casino. The hubby recognized two people from the show as we entered the hotel. LOL!

We ended up at Zax. We watched Vladimir Guerrero hit that grand slam to tie the game. (Bit of a bummer they ended up losing in extra innings to the Red Sox.)

We checked Fremont Street. I stuck a ten dollar bill in a slot machine and came away with ten dollars. Breaking even is a good thing.

And cab 3 took us back here to the Flamingo. We had room service for dinner. Not too bad.

I buzznetted some photos I took. Hopefully they’re on the page. 😉

Time to do my nails!
