Three years ago…
15 February 2005Kevin Tod Smith drifted away from this world, taken before we were ready to let him go. He left behind his family and friends. He left behind his devoted fans.
I don’t know what I could say that I haven’t said before. Do I still think about him? Everyday. Do I miss him? Absolutely. Yet I never knew this wonderful man.
I treasure the moments of being in his presence. I can still remember the first time we met. The giddiness. The stifled awe. How could this beautiful and gorgeous man be so gracious? So warm. And so friendly. I remember standing next to him as he signed my photo, reciting the letters that spell my name. I tried not to laugh as he stopped after the “L” trying to remember the rest of my name.
But even before that, I remember the moment he walked into the room. The conversations hushed as he made his way. Then the noise picked up. We didn’t want him to feel self-conscious. But his very presence filled the room. He was so vibrant.
As with most of my fellow fans, I learned of Kevin’s passing online. An email was sent out to one of the many mailing lists devoted to him. I read it. I couldn’t believe it. I followed the link in the email. I cried.
I do not think a day has passed without one thought of Kevin. A short moment that always brings a smile and just a bit of melancholy. A kind of honor to his memory.
I will always be grateful for having adored him. My admiration for him led me to people who became dear friends. And I am happy that we are still friends.
And my favorite memory of Kevin? His beautiful version of “In the Ghetto” at the 1999 Xena convention in San Francisco. The stage was dim as he sang a most perfect Elvis-esque rendition of the song. I wish I could relive that night. Sometimes when I hear that song I can take myself back to that dark and beautiful moment.
Thank you again Kevin Tod Smith. You are still in my thoughts. Always…
Number 20
12 February 2005So Mulder’s old number with the A’s has already been re-assigned. Kiko Calero. I’M SAD. And how freakin’ silly is that? It’s silly, but such is me at times.
Wil Wheaton is going to be on CSI in the near future. He’s filming his episode this week. I’M JEALOUS. Not that I’d want to be him. An actor I am not. I’m probably just jealous because he gets to work on an awesome show with all those groovy people. I would just be happy to witness it. 😉
The driving to work thing is so getting to me. I feel so tired! How does the husband do it? I think I’d be cranky all the time if I had to drive three hours round trip every single day. It’s not easy! At least the view is nice.
The story in my head is still just in my head. What do I need to do to get it out?!
Lunch on Friday was Goldilocks. Again for me. LOL! This time I went with my co-workers. I love eating there. I need to try something new. Maybe pancit next time. 😉
Thursday at Sizzlers. a Filipino chick was cussing out her boyfriend (?). Sounds like she thinks he’s cheating on her or something. The guy didn’t have much to say. Or rather, he kept his voice down and didn’t adverstise himself like his companion did. Amused as I was, I was also annoyed. Why do that kind of crap at Sizzlers? And then there’s the bad service. Blah.
Woohoo, it’s the weekend! 😀
Happy Birthday Trevor Guthrie!!!
11 February 2005I just had to express the sentiment. LOL! It’s not like he will ever read it here…
Slow brew of inspiration
10 February 2005I wrote such a lovely entry yesterday and I tried emailing it and it didn’t work. ALAS!
I’m fiending for some CSI. Good thing it’s about to start. Woohoo! 😉
Attention Ryan Gosling fans! The Notebook is out on DVD. How many of you are going to email me with your “Oh Ryan, you are so hot!” messages? I don’t mind the “Ryan is such a great actor” emails, but if you think I’m Ryan, don’t click on send. 😛 In all seriousness, I think everyone should buy the movie. It’s a sweet movie and Ryan is lovely. I think Rachel McAdams steals every scene.
This Saturday is Fan Fest at the Coliseum. I think we’re going. I would like to go. I want to be closer to some baseball, maybe take a picture or two with a player. I’ll be a little sad about the missing boys. But it will be good to be there. I wanna go!
On toy front, I’m very much enjoying my new PDA, the HP iPaq 3715. I can take pictures, write stories, email at home, etc. It’s most cool. Too bad I can’t email to Blogger. Alas!
Okay, this CSI is keeping me interested. Just not enough Nick.
Driving alone…
8 February 2005I think I would enjoy driving alone if I didn’t have such a weak bladder. Suckass! 😛 But I do like driving with the moonroof back and the music loud. I love singing in the car! No one can hear me. 😀
So, the Super Bowl. I was mostly bored with it. Where was the excitement? And ye gods, all those Diet Pepsi commercials! Bah. Maybe I would have been more excited if my team was in it.
I like when my little dog walks under the table as she wanders around the house.
I watch too much tv. Right now I’m watching “House” and trying to blog. Such goofiness!
One of the good things about going to lunch alone is that I can go to Goldilocks. I grew up in the Bay Area and I never ate at Goldilocks. Well, there’s one down the street from work and I had my first meal there a couple of months ago. This past Friday I went again and had chicken adobo. Mmmmm! And I had the same thing today. Delicious! I must make it for myself. One of these days…
Yesterday I had to take the hubby to the hospital. He’s got bronchitis. 🙁 While we were there (so much waiting in hospitals!), I saw one of my former co-workers. We chatted for a bit. It was nice to see her. 😛
Super Bowl Sunday!!!
6 February 2005
“More than Words” – Westlife
So, it’s Super Bowl Sunday. I’m not really that excited about it, but hey, it’s something to do, eh? 😉
New layout!
“I Wish You Love” is oddly named perhaps, but there it is. Harry Connick Jr. was crooning and I needed a name for the layout. LOL! The latest look features new colors and a smaller table. I was going for compact. I’ve also cleaned up the links a bit and re-sorted myself in the Harry Potter world. Somehow I’m now in Gryffindor. Have I changed so much since my Ravenclaw days? 😛
The men on top are: Mark Mulder, George Eads, and William Gregory Lee… Mark once again graces the top of Moonlit Jazz in the most recent picture I have of him. It’s from the Cardinals’ Winter Warm-up. See, I’m not bitter that he no longer plays for my A’s. Oh no, I’m just SAD! But see, I still (heart) him. I’ve got a shirt that says so… George (does he look a like a George?) is making his first appearance here. I just adore the picture. Laughter in a man is so appealing. And y’ all know he’s the latest one on my “list”… Greg (he does not go by William) is doing his Dante’s Cove look. The mini-series is set to debut this spring. In case you’re wondering.
Do I need to explain the colors? Well, it’s green and yellow and gold and white. Variations of my A’s. Can you tell I’m yearning for BASEBALL? ‘Tis true!
Pizza is here!!! Yah!
And so I wait…
1 February 2005Today I woke up with an unusual amount of positive energy. I actually stayed awake during the drive to work. Amazing! Perhaps it had to do with the new CD I burned. Tis a mix of pop/rock, some slow stuff and some dance stuff. Okay, just one dance song. (Kylie Minogue’s “Slow”) Although there’s that soulDecision song “Don’t Dance Close to Me.”
Wow, I’m totally babbling! Let’s just go with it. Who knows when I’ll post this though.
The sun is shining outside. Bright and beautiful, just a little warm on the skin to counter the coolness of this winter day. The phrase “hint of spring” almost comes to mind. Perhaps it should be a “tease of spring.” Whatever the phrase, I feel energized and ready to take on something like a new story.
Yes, a new story.
I’m suddenly fascinated by Mr. George Eads and he’s now the inspiration for a story teasing my brain. I love having new inspiration for stories.
Green tea makes you go pee.
So Mr. Mark Mulder will wear number 30, according to the Mailbag at the Cardinals’ site. Yes, I have the St. Louis Cardinals site maked as a favorite now and it’s the next click after the A’s site. You just never know when Mulder will get a mention. 😉 It’s going to be so strange to see him in a different uniform.
Alas.
Lunchtime has come and gone. I had a Southwest Taco Salad from Fuddruckers. YUM! I like that place. I should have gotten a burger. I had burger thoughts when we got to work today and yet I get a salad for lunch. Ah well, it had ground beef in it. 😛
Now I just want to go home. I want to go home and play with the dogs then watch some tv then do some computer stuff. All of that would be most wonderful…
For some reason this site isn’t working on my PowerBook. Grrrr!
