Bummer!!!

The class I’m taking was kinda groovy. Lots of information and the instructor is cool. She’s not dry about the material. She tells stories and gives examples of situations. I like that. I took the test at the end of the book, but I’m not sure about some of the answers. Hopefully they will be answered in class. 😉

I’m looking forward to tomorrow! We’re going to the A’s game. Yah! 😀 Mulder is pitching…

So yeah, my boys got their butts kicked!!! Bah.

Pictures from yesterday’s game…

Boys watching the game…

Zito on the mound at various moments…

Something I read…

PCWorld.com – BlackBerries Play Politics – I read about this every so often. I have a Blackberry! It’s the Nextel version, the non-color one. I want the color one. Someday. Maybe. I like how my Blackberry looks battered. Tough cookie of a phone. 😉

Happy Birthday and CONGRATULATIONS to…

My sister! Not only is today her birthday (Happy Birthday sister!), she also said yes to her fella’s proposal. My sister is engaged!!! I’m very happy for the both of them. 😀

Zito wins!

10 August 2004

And the A's win! Detroit 4, Oakland 5 at Network Associates Coliseum

Winning Pitcher – Barry Zito (8-8)
Losing Pitcher – Jason Johnson (8-10)
SV – Octavio Dotel(24)

DET Runs: 4, Hits: 7, Errors: 1
OAK Runs: 5, Hits: 7, Errors: 0

HR: DET: C. Pena (15). OAK: E. Chavez (21).
Oakland Record: (64-48)

We watched this game and I so wanted the A’s to score just a couple of more runs in the bottom of the 8th. Just in case. But Dotel managed to do his job and saved the game for Zito. Woohoo! Chavez’s shot was BEAUTIFUL! I love seeing his homeruns. Actually, I love seeing any A’s homeruns. 😉

We keep seeing that teal Avenger, this time on the way home. Have I mentioned the Avenger? I’ll have to tell the story sometime. But not right now…

End of the road trip…

9 August 2004

And the A's win! Oakland 8, Minnesota 2 at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome

Winning Pitcher – Rich Harden (6-5)
Losing Pitcher – Kyle Lohse (5-9)

OAK Runs: 8, Hits: 12, Errors: 0
MIN Runs: 2, Hits: 7, Errors: 0

HR: MIN: L. Rivas (7).
Oakland Record: (63-48)

And the A’s come home after a winning road trip. Most groovy!

We overslept today. How sad is that? I don’t think I’m quite used to the waking up before dawn thing. And it’s just going to get worse as the days grow shorter.

This SportsCenter Old School rocks! Last night was Craig Kilborn with Dan Patrick. I loved when Kilborn was on SportsCenter! And tonight we have Charley Steiner with Bob Ley. I’m loving it…

No sweet 16 yet…

8 August 2004

And the A's win! Oakland 6, Minnesota 5 at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome
(18 innings)

Winning Pitcher – Chris Hammond (3-1)
Losing Pitcher – Terry Mulholland (3-5)
SV – Octavio Dotel(23)

OAK Runs: 6, Hits: 16, Errors: 0
MIN Runs: 5, Hits: 11, Errors: 0

HR: MIN: C. Guzman (6), J. Morneau (8).
Oakland Record: (62-48)

Mulder in the 9th inning, looking slightly dejected…

Mulder pitched the first 8 innings of this game, but gave up the homerun that tied the game and sent it into extra innings. Shoot, it went into a whole new game! No runs scored again until the 18th inning. The A’s bullpen was great! Well, except for Dotel giving up the 2-run homer in the bottom of the 18th. I did not like that one at all. But the end result was a win, which was very nice indeed.

Books are good…

I finished reading Just a Geek by Wil Wheaton. A great read. He’s really a wonderful writer and I can’t wait until he comes out with another one. I love the way he lets us into his world, his “angst,” and his joy. And I love the way he’s a FAN too and how he’s appreciative of everything. I really enjoyed his perspective on ST:TNG and conventions (namely Creation). Although I was a Star Trek fan first, my real foray into the whole con-going thing was with Xena & Hercules. Different fandoms, same feeling of occasional dissatisfaction in the experience.

Someday I’d love to write something about my experiences as a fan and convention goer. I think a lot of my fellow Xenites/Herculeans would have wonderful stories to tell, especially those who were “behind the scenes.” It’s a thought, eh?

After the 18 innings of A’s vs. Twins, we went to Borders. On a whim I did a check for Just a Geek and what did I find? It was “in store.” WHAT?! In the media section (it should really be in biography) was one copy of the book. Craziness!

I ended up buying a romance novel (of course) called The Last Mermaid by Shana Abe. I started reading it and I couldn’t resist. LOL! I also got the soundtrack for the Princess Diaries 2. 😉

This week is a short week for me, work-wise. I get to go to a class on Thursday and Friday. Yeah, might be fun. 😛

A loss to Hudson

7 August 2004

today in baseball Oakland 3, Minnesota 4 at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome

Winning Pitcher – Johan Santana (11-6)
Losing Pitcher – Tim Hudson (7-4)
SV – Joe Nathan(32)

OAK Runs: 3, Hits: 9, Errors: 1
MIN Runs: 4, Hits: 12, Errors: 0

Oakland Record: (61-48)

Bummer. This game was supposedly on FOX, but it wasn’t playing here in the Central Valley. What is up with that?

The Big Three: Tim Hudson, Mark Mulder, and Barry Zito

That’s a picture of a picture. I cropped out the folks behind just in case they didn’t want their mugs gracing my weblog. The picture was taken on my friend’s birthday, but she wasn’t there. If you check out my Buzznet, you can see a picture of the ball autographed by the three given to my friend by her mom. (Now that’s a messed up sentence!)

If you like William Gregory Lee (just click on his name if you don’t who he is), I’ve added new headshots. They look good. Check them out. 😉

Extra inning win! (Friday)

7 August 2004

And the A's win! Oakland 3, Minnesota 1 at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome
(Friday)

Winning Pitcher – Octavio Dotel (2-5)
Losing Pitcher – Juan Rincon (9-4)

OAK Runs: 3, Hits: 8, Errors: 0
MIN Runs: 1, Hits: 4, Errors: 2

HR: MIN: S. Stewart (5).
Oakland Record: (61-47)

I totally forgot that this game was on. Is that nuts or what? I was at my friend’s house and my Blackberry buzzed and I checked it and saw the post game email. Ye gods! I paused before checking the email and I was quite relieved to see that they had won. Woohoo!

Oh my goodness! My friend showed me a baseball that her mom got signed at the A’s game, as well as a picture. Guess who signed the ball. Never mind, I’ll just tell you: Tim Hudson, Mark Mulder, and Barry Zito. I got to touch (very lightly) a ball held by The Big Three. I told my friend that she had to will it to me. And the picture is of the three along with my friend’s mom and some others. NOT FAIR!!! Mulder looks best out of the guys. Hudson has his eyes closed and Zito has his mouth open enough to see the gum inside. Geez. LOL!

I had a great time hanging out with my friends. We ate good food and talked about all kinds of things. Twas a good time indeed…
