Waiting for lunch time
19 August 2004It’s way past noon and I’m hungry! More than that, I’m a bit lost. Such is life I think.
We saw the Teal Avenger this morning. One of these days I will take a picture of it and the driver. You never ever want to be behind this woman, especially while winding through Marsh Creek Road. You will barely go the speed limit. She is utterly clueless. She doesn’t get it at all, even when two or three or four cars risk life and limb just to pass her. The first time I saw her, I couldn’t pass. I didn’t realize until it was too late that I should have left her in the dust at the earliest opportunity.
Pretty soon I’m going to say screw lunch, let’s just go home early!

Mulder at tonight’s game…
The husband was contemplating whether or not to start Mulder in his fantasy league. I told him, “Mulder is going to win.” How was I so sure?
When we turned the radio off after coming home, the A’s were down 4-2. I was very happy to see the end result. Of course, most of the talk is centered around the fact that Durazo hit 3 homeruns. While we were listening in the car, I yelled at Durazo to do his job. He hit the first of his homeruns soon after. I guess he didn’t like me yelling at him. LOL!
And so Mulder is the major league’s first 16 game winner. Woohoo! 😀
Hotter days…
17 August 2004
Oakland 11, Baltimore 0 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards

HR: OAK: S. Hatteberg (14), J. Dye (19), A. Melhuse (7), E. Byrnes (18).
Oakland Record: (67-52)
It’s starting to cook out there, eh?
Woohoo for the A’s! Look at those homers. I like it. 😉 Tomorrow Mulder takes the mound. Hopefully he gets the win. He must get the win!!! 😀
Monday win!
16 August 2004
Oakland 3, Baltimore 1 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards
Winning Pitcher – Mark Redman (9-9)
Losing Pitcher – Erik Bedard (5-7)
SV – Octavio Dotel(25)
OAK Runs: 3, Hits: 9, Errors: 1
BAL Runs: 1, Hits: 7, Errors: 0
HR: BAL: J. Lopez (18).
Oakland Record: (66-52)
We listened to this game on the way home from work. I had to “watch” the end of it online. It was a little confusing with the whole Palmeiro thing, but hey, the A’s won! 😀
And the day was a little busy…
A nice and busy Monday. Ye gods! But it was kinda fun. 😉
When I turned my PDA on, I saw that it was my niece’s birthday. (She’s actually my cousin’s daughter.) I said it aloud, “Oh, it’s Ashley’s birthday!”
We went to lunch at Claim Jumper. I had the country fried steak. Towards the end of our meal, a mother and her three daughters walked by on their way to their table. It was Ashley and family! What are the chances? The world can be such a small place. And I can’t believe she’s 14!
I’m getting old. LOL! I remember when she was a baby. Ye gods!
And why are parents so exasperating? Even when you get to my age, they are still exasperating…
Weekends are too short
15 August 2004
“What a Difference a Day Makes” by Jamie Cullum
Kansas City 6, Oakland 1 at Network Associates Coliseum
Winning Pitcher – Zack Greinke (5-9)
Losing Pitcher – Barry Zito (8-9)
KC Runs: 6, Hits: 10, Errors: 0
OAK Runs: 1, Hits: 7, Errors: 0
Oakland Record: (65-52)
Looks like Zito pitched a good game, but the bullpen couldn’t hold it for him. ALAS!

Bella, a puppy of 4 months
Yes, I met a new doggie today! Isn’t she just the cutest thing? My cousin and her fiance are dogsitting. When I arrived at their house, the dog was in the backyard because she had been BAD! Number 2 bad. 😛 But she’s a sweet thing. And so cute!
I helped address the wedding invitations. It was fun! I dropped out after doing 50 invitations. Lots of work! 😛

And more of Mulder from Friday…
Yes, feast your eyes on more Mulder in action. All pre-game from Friday, of course. 😛 I like being “visual” sometimes.
Ahhh, why are weekends so short?
Saturday Musings
14 August 2004
“St. Louis Blues” by Peter Cincotti
“You’re not going to win every game; you’re not always going to get the right calls; you’re not always going to hit the holes,” Mulder said, summarizing the calm resignation that permeated the A’s clubhouse. “Things happen.” (After last night’s game.)
Yes, but why did it have to happen while I was there at the game? 😛

Shots of Mulder tossing on the side before the game…
As you can see, I couldn’t resist taking lots of pictures of Mulder while he was warming up before the game. We were in Section 126, row 21. If you’re in row 21, the walkway is in front of you. Very groovy seats.
Too bad the game ended with an “L.” But since I can’t remember the last time I witnessed a Mulder loss, I suppose it’s all right. 😛 Okay, not really.
And I’m getting a bit annoyed with this whole not showing games on Saturdays thing. What is up with that?
Kansas City 1, Oakland 6 at Network Associates Coliseum
Winning Pitcher – Rich Harden (7-5)
Losing Pitcher – Brian Anderson (2-10)
KC Runs: 1, Hits: 5, Errors: 1
OAK Runs: 6, Hits: 10, Errors: 0
HR: OAK: M. Kotsay (11).
Oakland Record: (65-51)
Woohoo, they won today! Most lovely. 🙂

Shots from yesterday in Concord using the Hubby’s Zire72… My desk (like the picture on my computer monitor?), my shadow, the shiny building across the street from work, and the book for my class…
My class yesterday ended a bit after three. I actually learned stuff! It’s cool to have an instructor filled with stories that relate to the information. It’s much easier learning that way.
The husband and I went to Harry’s Hofbrau in San Leandro before we went to the Coliseum. I had the BBQ Special – tri-tip and chicken. YUM!

I like wearing this shirt (it’s yellow with green writing) underneath my Mulder jersey…
And love to…
I know I always say this, but it’s true, so I’ll say it again: I so appreciate the comments to the blog. 😀 You all rock!
- Wah – I just finished The Last Mermaid today! It was an enjoyable mix of romance (sometimes quite steamy) and myth. Well written and easy to read. I liked it! And I did get some good pictures from the game last night. Maybe I’ll actually fiddle with them and put them up. But I’m lazy, so we’ll see…
- Olivia – I must agree, Dotel can be quite annoying. I try not to watch when he’s on the mound and they only have a one or two run lead. It’s not as bad as watching Jim Mecir, but it’s close.
- Sharon – I think Zito is indeed at .500 now. Thank goodness! Maybe he can actually have a winning season now. Dare we hope?
- Val – I shall pass along your good wishes to my sister. 🙂 Exciting times!
And let me rant a bit…
I recently revamped my Ryan Gosling site. I changed the email address, mostly because I was getting way too much junk mail AND I think some of the young Ryan fans were confused by the “Gos” part of my GosGal addy and thought that they would somehow reach Ryan if they emailed me. As part of the revamp, I added the disclaimer that I am NOT Ryan Gosling. Surely a reasonable person would figure out that Ryan would definitely not have an email addy like NOBLELADY.
I got this email the other day:
Dear Ryan,I know there are alot of roomers about u but there is one in perticular i would like to know the truth about.Did u propose to Britany Spears?
I know, it’s my own fault for having a Ryan Gosling site. And it’s actually funny to me that I get these emails. But man, sometimes it’s also ANNOYING! Bah!
Loss 4 for Mulder
13 August 2004
Kansas City 10, Oakland 3 at Network Associates Coliseum
Winning Pitcher – Mike Wood (2-4)
Losing Pitcher – Mark Mulder (15-4)
KC Runs: 10, Hits: 9, Errors: 2
OAK Runs: 3, Hits: 10, Errors: 0
HR: KC: A. Nunez (2), J. Buck (4), J. Randa (4).

So, I got to see Mulder pitch. Wasn’t too pretty. But hey, how many times does Mulder give up a grand slam? 😉 Poor Mark…
