Mulder excited about trade
21 December 2004New Cardinal can’t wait to pitch in St. Louis – I’m glad for him. I think he’ll do a smashing job in St. Louis. I just wish I could go to his games. I’ll just have to wait until the Cards come to town in San Francisco. Then I’ll wear my Cardinals jersey (which I have yet to buy) and cheer for the Cards.
I’ve been a Cards fan in the making because of the hubby. 😛
The Night Baseball Broke My Heart
18 December 2004I absolutely understand that baseball is a business. Even as the men play the game on the field, money is made and money is spent. I know that the A’s are a “small market” team. And I had to resign myself to the fact that The Big Three were no more when Tim Hudson was traded away mere days ago.
My only wish was that Billy Beane would NOT TRADE MARK MULDER. Mulder is my most favorite baseball player. Everyone knows it. He has great stuff, is the master on the mound, and is a fine specimen of baseball. My wish was that HE would be the one alone to stay on the A’s.
Wishes are for suckers.
And so my heart is broken.
We were in the mall doing our Christmas shopping when the husband got buzzed on his Blackberry. The alert was from his Cardinals list and he thought it was a joke. I read it and my heart sank.
Shocked.
Disappointed.
Slightly devastated.
I want to understand WHY but right now I just want to be sad about MY BOY leaving MY TEAM. He is much of the reason I’ve given so much of my time, energy, and adoration to the A’s and baseball. My rekindled love for the game was sparked by Mulder, Hudson, and Zito, as well as many A’s players here and gone these several years. But Mark Mulder became the focus of my baseball attention.
I love watching him on the mound. His cool control, the swift precision of his pitches– all this and more just kept me watching.
And I will still watch him.
Even in my melancholy, I do take comfort in the fact that Mulder is going to the Cardinals, the one NL team I actually watch. I can still cheer for him and truly wish him good fortune with his new team because I’ve been watching his new team for several years.
But I will be a sad baseball fan when the season starts.
What will become of my A’s?
Big Three bummed about breakup – I’m bummed along with them…
Time to put trust in Beane – I want to trust Beane and his vision, but right now it just really sucks.
And so my baseball heart is filled with sorrow…
Hudson on trade: ‘It was sad’
18 December 2004Breakup of Big Three bittersweet for right-hander – I am still very sad and the article made me sadder. Alas! Good Mulder quotes though…
Thank goodness it’s the weekend!
The morning was FOGGY! I left the house before sunrise, so the lack of visibility was even more stark. Very scary, if you ask me. But I made it to work all right. 😀 It’s good to listen to the music really loud and maybe even sing along to the boys. Or girls.
Oh, I got a new toy! I’ll take a picture sometime to show it off…
The Big Three: Broken Apart
16 December 2004🙁
I’M SAD. I understand that baseball is a business, but as a fan of the A’s, I’m always sad to see a favorite player go. And in this case, I’m VERY SAD.
(But not as sad as I would be if it were Mulder who got traded away. Oh Billy Beane, please never trade Mark Mulder away!!!)
Anyhoo, I wish Hudson well in his endeavors. I’ll still follow his baseball adventures, but I won’t cheer for his new team. Here’s something kinda cool though: my sister lives in Atlanta and the Braves are in town the weekend she gets married. So hey, maybe I’ll check out the Braves while we’re in town. 😉
See, you must look to the bright side.
Right now, I’ll go back to being just a little sad.
Alas…
Uninspired rambling…

Chorus to “Ain’t No Way to Make a Living” ~ Trevor Guthrie
“Ain’t No Way to Make a Living” is the last song on the Shady Satin Drug CD. It’s actually not my favorite song, but the words remind me of when I worked at the jail. Now that’s definitely no way to make a living! But I wonder what Trevor was thinking when he wrote it…
Last night I did some Christmas cards. I didn’t have any energy after work today to do the rest. Oh well, it’s not like I have any stamps at the moment anyway. 😛

Holiday scenes…
I just posted to a Dark Angel forum that I haven’t vistited in AGES! Why the heck did I do that? LOL! Oh well, it’s done now. Maybe someone will actually reply. I’m sad because I couldn’t find the “Wigglees” thread. I used to have so much fun on the forums. Alas…
I worked alone in the processing office today. Twas a little weird! And the rest of the office was quiet as well…
Hey, would anyone like a Gmail account? I’ve still got plenty of invites. Do I have any takers? 😉
Time for the holidays…
12 December 2004The Holiday Party – some of the photos from last night’s holiday party. Twas mostly work people, but most of the pictures aren’t of work people. LOL!
As much as I loved the previous top banner, I thought I’d change it for the holidays. 😉 The old picture is from long ago. Tis me and my little sister, when she was actually shorter than me. 😀 Groovy, eh?
I should be doing my Christmas cards. I’m lazy!…
Rainy windy day

“Shady Satin Drug” by soulDecision
Wild and windy and gray, rain falling in the morning. I can’t seem to keep my eyes open during the drive to work. Am I not getting enough sleep?
It would be a fine thing to win the lottery. I would love to not have to worry about money. Not that I really worry about it, but it wouldn’t be a bad thing to have more of it. I’d go to lots of baseball games.
Speaking of baseball, I’m hoping that Hudson stays with the A’s, but the trade rumors are swirling. I don’t like the swirling!
We’ve gotten three Christmas cards already. I think it’s time to get into gear with writing those out. I like to write little notes in my cards, but sometimes time just flies and you don’t have time for all the niceties. Alas.

The Olympians have won every month this year and for November, they gave me their team award. So it’s on my desk and I thought I should take a picture of it. 😉 I’m really digging my camera phone, it takes decent pictures…
I’ve added a new link for Mr. Dan Huard. He was on The Screen Savers and has recently started a weblog/articles site. So if you enjoy your tech and want to read more, check out his site!
