on the jukebox: “Heart of Mine” by Norah Jones
It’s almost 0900 hrs as I start this and I know I should do a reflection on the year that will end soon. If it’s incoherent, it’s because I’m still a little sleepy. 😉
OUR MOVE TO THE CENTRAL VALLEY…
We hit the year mark in December. I must say, I really do love our house. It’s just right! I still don’t like the commute very much, but I’ve gotten used to the curves of the road and sometimes the drive becomes an automatic thing for me. I like that.
BASEBALL…
It seems as though more of my months are spent thinking about baseball. The A’s Fan Fest was in February and we attended, of course. After spring training, the 2003 season was upon us and once again my attention flowed right into the game.
My regard for Mark Mulder grew and everytime he was on the mound, I’d hold my breath. Would this be the day that my story’s end would come true? He came close a couple of times, but never to the perfect end. My cousins and I did the Photo Day again, even though it was a Yankees game and the crowd was huge. It turned out to be Mulder’s last win of the season, a most groovy game won in the bottom of the ninth. It was so exciting!
The A’s season ended in agonizing disappointment, yet again. But it was still a good year for them. I try and stay optimistic…
NURTURING ONLINE FRIENDSHIPS, CHANGES AT WORK…
My friend and I started IMing each other this year (is that right?). Now, it doesn’t sound like a big deal when it’s said like that, but if you know who the friend is, then it might make you smile. 😉
I guess I’ve been a good fangirl, not too obsessive and just the right amount of admiration. I know I’m EXTREMELY lucky to get updates on my most favorite fellow (that would be William Gregory Lee, in case you’re wondering). He’s such a SWEET man. I adore him!
I’ve been at the jail for almost eight years now. People I’ve worked with began to retire in 2003. The biggest personal impact was Dale’s retirement. I wish there were more of his kind out there. He was the perfect mix of professionalism and kindness. And he knew his stuff! I know he’s enjoying his retirement. But I definitely miss his presence in the office.
Mike also left us to find adventure in Florida. Even though he thinks he can be replaced, well, he can’t. No one can ever be as wonderful and helpful and funny as him. I miss him much, but I’m glad we’re keeping in touch.
TIIC (the idiots in charge) changed things around in the office without ever consulting the people who actually work in the office. Why do I even care? Still, it brought us bail boy and I can’t complain about that too much. All hail TIIC! 😛
It’s been a great year for meeting more people online. The whole blog thing has really opened up the online world for me. I’m so glad to have such lovely blogs to read. You are all GROOVAY! I can’t wait to see what we’re all going to write about in 2004. 😀
FAMILY, FRIENDS, THE REAL STUFF
I’m not a good friend, I think. I don’t keep in touch with my “real life” friends as I should. But I do care! Time just seems to slip from me.
Congrats to Jessica and Matt on their move to their very own place. I’m very happy for the two of you!… Many congratulations to Missy and Jeff on their engagement. I can’t wait until the wedding. I’m going to take so many pictures!… Debbie and Jason, I still can’t believe you’re not together. I wish the both of you happiness… Many good wishes to Jeff and his bride. I know you’ll make a good husband. You’re such a good guy. Your wife is a lucky lady… Woohoo to Christine and Kevin! You two have got your house and the wedding plans are gearing up. Christine, your dress is most lovely and I can’t wait until the wedding. So much fun!…
I got to see my sister and meet her boyfriend just last month. Glen, you’re a groovy guy and I look forward to seeing you again. Sheilah, I MISS YOU! I wish you weren’t so far away. Alas…
My in-laws have been most generous. They are lovely people. J
I need to see my family more, especially my parents…
Our vacation in Cancun was GREAT. Definitely something to look back on. I loved being there. I loved being away from here.
OBSESSIONS RENEWED, CREATED…
Baseball. I’m still into baseball! I like it though. It keeps me sane in an insane way. LOL!… Boys at work. I’ve still got my number one, but a new one wants to be ranked. I give it a couple of months. Maybe… ORLANDO BLOOM. What is wrong with me? Yes, he’s perfect in his own way. But why do I have to notice it?!… LORD OF THE RINGS. I should have watched The Two Towers in the theatre, but the extended version was to die for! And The Return of the King ROCKED! Everyone should go and see it. Legolas. Eomer. Aragorn. Beautiful scenes. Tears flowing. HAIL TO LOTR!!!… Mark Mulder. Wait, he goes with the baseball thing. Barry Zito. He tickles me and now he’s friends with my friend. NO FAIR! But it gives me an “in” when I see him again? LOL!…
LOOKING FORWARD FOR JUST A MOMENT…
Write that book… Hawaii!!!… A wedding in St. Felicitas… Baby? Make a baby!… BASEBALL SEASON in luxury suites? Yes, must do that!… Another picture with Mark Mulder? I think I can do it. One with Barry Zito? That would be cool…
I could write more, but I’ve got to get ready for work. Blah!
A most wonderful New Year to all of you! Have fun, be safe. Come back in one piece. 😉
