“HabaΓ±era” by Charlotte Church
I’m waiting for that darn postgame alert. So I’ll just babble until I get it or I want to go to bed. π
Yes, we’re back home after housesitting for a week. Yeehaw! I’m really looking forward to sleeping in my own bed with just one dog to bother me in my sleep. LOL!
Love to the ones who read my babblings…
It’s been WAY TOO LONG since I’ve said thank you to my readers, so here we go. I hope I don’t miss anyone!
Nicole – I think I need to remind you about the thing Ryan Gosling. π
Vikkicar – I bought The Notebook for my sister yesterday and she already read it! I’m so looking forward to the movie…
Wah – THANK YOU so much for the goodies I got in the mail! I think I owe you an email. And hopefully sometime soon something catches my eye and I can send some love back to you. π
::celeste:: – Snape, it’s always about Snape with you. LOL!
Olivia – Yes, I agree with you about Mulder. π
Irish – Coupling airs on Sundays on BBC America. I think it also repeats during the week, but I’m not sure when.
Luz – The games from the last homestand seem so long ago. But hey, at least they won today. And your Giants aren’t looking too bad, eh?
Meesh – I loved sitting in on The Screen Savers. I so want to do it again. And Kevin is a total sweetie! Alas, they’re moving to LA at the end of July or beginning of August. The last taping from the SF studio will be on July 16th. I’m sad!
Jen – I miss Izzy too! And I wish the A’s hadn’t sucked that whole St. Louis series. Gads! I hope you’re enjoying your Gmail account!
Val – Orlando Bloom. It’s almost just enough to write his name. LOL! He’s on the cover of the latest People magazine. Yah! And thank you for the nice words regarding my mom. π

It was good to see my A’s win. But I was rather subdued while I was watching the game. I wondered if it would be enough. And I mostly ignored the bottom of the 9th because Jim Mecir was on the mound. I just didn’t need to see what he was going to do! But I did catch the last play. Stylish grab throw by Scutaro to Crosby. Nice!
On the mound tomorrow– Mark Mulder. I wish I could watch that game!
So a couple of the A’s starters made vague (or not) comments about the bullpen. And then Arthur Rhodes offered this (from the A’s Notes):
“We had two starters on this team say the bullpen needs to step it up,” Rhodes told CBS.SportsLine.com. “You shouldn’t say that. If we lose as a team, we all lose. If we win as a team, we all win. … If you’re not man enough to come to somebody on the field and tell them to do a better job, don’t say in the paper that we’re doing a bad job.”
So if the pitchers who made the comments weren’t “man enough” to say something to the bullpen, then isn’t Rhodes doing the same thing with his comments to a national columnist? Shouldn’t he have gone up to the pitchers in question and said, “Hey, you shouldn’t say that kind of stuff to the press” instead of saying something to a columnist?
I agree with the first part of the quote. If they lose a team, they all lose. And if they win, they all win. But just as the starters perhaps shouldn’t have said anything, then neither should Rhodes have said anything. He should have talked to the starters himself. Because it really just doesn’t help their game at all, the conflict. I’m sure by now they all worked it out. Hopefully. π
But as a fan, I must say that I agree with the starters and I totally understand their frustration. It’s frustrating for me, as a fan, to watch the bullpen totally squander the efforts of the starters. If the starter comes out with a lead after pitching a brilliant game, why can’t the reliever hold on to that lead? Isn’t that their job?
Anyhoo, that’s my time on the baseball soapbox. LOL!
