13 June 2003

Woohoo, the A’s over the Expos 8-4. That’s Mark Mulder’s 9th win of the season. 😀 I love my boys.

I’m home from work and it’s the weekend again. The moon is waxing almost full out there. Or is it full? Now I have to look… It’s full tomorrow. 😛

Thursday: The A’s fell to the Braves 2-4. They’re driving me NUTS!!! Alas. 🙁 We are once again eight games back. Grrrr!!!

But in better news, I got my personalized batting practice jersey! Woohoo! Yeah, guess who’s number I got. 😉

THE FRIDAY FIVE

1. What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to do, but never have?
For about eighteen years, I’ve been wanting to write a book. Haven’t done it yet!

2. When someone asks your opinion about a new haircut/outfit/etc, are you always honest?
I’m constructively honest. 😉 I try and keep the opinion positive. If I’m brutally honest, it might be because I’m having a bad day. 😛

3. Have you ever found out something about a friend and then wished you hadn’t? What happened?
I really can’t think of anything like that.

4. If you could live in any fictional world (from a book/movie/game/etc.) which would it be and why?
I would live in either of these worlds: Herc/Xena-verse, Star Trek (the Next Generation/DS9/Voyager), Lord of the Rings, Dark Angel. And the whys:

Herc/Xena- Because I’ve lived it! Well, in fanfic. 😉 I have my life and character all worked out. Take me there! 😛

Star Trek: I just love all the technology and the exploration. Who wouldn’t want to take a tour of the universe in a starship? Tell me? Who? LOL

Lord of the Rings: Ahh, the mystical, magical. It would be a hard life, but wouldn’t it be cool to be an elf? 😉

Dark Angel: Another world I’ve “lived.” LOL! I’d mostly want to interact with those Manticore folks, especially Alec. 😛

5. What’s one talent/skill you don’t have but always wanted?
I wish that I could draw or paint!

Oh, apparently payroll has fixed THEIR mistake and I should see the correction in my next paycheck. I got a call from the commander himself! Ye gods! “It was our fault, blah blah blah,” he said. Gee, thanks for telling me. Actually, it was nice that he admitted it. Hopefully his payroll people don’t jerk off and NOT correct it. 😛

And I can’t believe I didn’t mention this: The shooter finally left this week. He got life without the possibility of parole. Cop killer sentenced to life without parole

Here’s what I wrote about it:

So our tax dollars will go to feeding, clothing, and sheltering this “scum” (not my word!) because six people couldn’t decide to send him to his death. They should have put themselves in the deputy’s shoes. They should have put themselves in his family’s shoes. They should have thought, “What if this happened to *my* brother or father or husband or friend? What punishment would be appropriate?” Personally, I don’t think living a life out in prison is just quite enough.

But that’s just me, my opinion. Maybe it’s because the third officer working that night is a friend of mine and I think “what if it had been him?” I would have been devasted. As it is, I probably only saw Deputy Monego in passing. His face looks so familiar. And it hurts to think that he died the way he did. Yes, in the line of duty, but how much comfort is that? Perhaps a little bit.
