A’s FAN FEST MUSINGS

Yikes, I haven’t talked about the Fan Fest? Well, here it goes…

We didn’t get to the ‘Net until about 12:30 or so, which was fine with us. We missed the long lines in and the first crush of people. Always a good thing if you don’t like that kind of thing. Of course, getting there that late meant missing the Coco Challenge, not getting tickets for autographs, photo ops, or tours, but we still had fun.

Barry Zito, Chad Bradford, and Micah Bowie had their Q&A at 1pm, so we settled in for a beer (him) and soda (me) and watched on the TVs set up throughout. Zito looked good! (And I don’t even like him “that way.” LOL!) He got most of the questions, of course, but the other guys did well too. Afterwards, we walked around. The field was set up with different kiddie attractions and throughout the stadium were different vendors and the like.

I didn’t get to see Mark Mulder. 🙁 But there are a lot of pictures out there already, if you look hard enough. I suggest Jen’s Baseball Page. She’s got some very good shots. 😉 And if you’re part of any of the A’s yahoo clubs, I saw lots there too.

I must thank Ms. Rubio for getting those autographs for me. THANKS!!! Sometimes it’s good to know the volunteers, eh? LOL! So even though I didn’t get to see Mulder or Zito, they got to see me (sort of). The picture they autographed is the montage I made of a the pictures I have with them. Of course, Zito signed the sheet protector instead of the actual picture. I guess that means I’ll have to get him to sign it again. 😉 Mulder signed the actual picture. I still want to get another picture with him. I have a whole baseball season for that, eh? I’m hoping we can get to the Rivercats vs. the A’s game before the regular season starts. Now that would be way cool.

Oh, and an observation. “Those seeking sponsers” were in full effect at the Fan Fest on Saturday. While we were wandering on the field, the hubby caught sight of two gals in their cute outfits and he commented, “Why do they look like they’re going clubbing?” LOL! Yes, why were they (and many others) dressed more for the night life as opposed to walking the hard concrete and the baseball green of a stadium? Were they confused about where they were? Or, omigosh, did they really think they’d catch the eye of one of the guys?

I know, I’m so mean. I should be nicer.

All in all, a lovely day that oozed baseball. Now I’m ready for the season to begin! 😀
