Freakin’ Friday: The A’s over the visiting Chicago White Sox, 1-0. 😀

The baseball players’ association set a strike date for 30 August. Alas. My thoughts? Well, I think that if the players strike, baseball will take a heavy hit. The fans are already in a state of unrest and should a strike come to pass, you’ll see droves of fans send tearful good byes to America’s past-time. Does it all come down to money? Why does it always come down to money? I can’t see anyone’s point of view on this. I can only see mine as a fan. And as a fan of baseball, I will be heartbroken if the players don’t come out to play on the 30th. Especially since I took the day off to possibly go to the A’s game that day. ALAS!

No one feels sorry for the players. And no one feels sorry for the owners. Sure, it’s a business, but if you drive away your fans, you won’t have a business to speak of!

I have hope that an agreement will be reached before the strike deadline. Otherwise, I will cry my tears and bid farewell to Major League Baseball. And I really don’t want to do that.

But the damage is beginning to crack over the fans. As time wears on, hearts will harden, attendence will fall, and only memories of the ballpark will drift in the summer breeze. And then, it will be the last day for baseball…

Melodramatic I can be. 😉
