Hopefully my IM goes unanswered and I won’t feel obliged to chat for a bit. LOL! Even though I want to chat with my friend. I just wish he’d answer my email! 😛
So, I’m on a Kevin Smith mailing list and someone posted about building a virtual building in his honor. Well, some people responded, but one particular person’s response bothered me enough to post a reply. She said, “I do hope we can get more response than this. This is making me sad. Seems like others have forgotten him already. He was sooo special, Maybe it seems silly to some too…..but what the heck?”
I was offended by her remark, so I responded:
“I don’t think it’s quite fair to say people have forgotten Kevin just because they might not have posted here. Just the fact that this list exists (along with others) should be testament enough that he is NOT forgotten. So don’t be sad because you think people have forgotten him. No one who has ever known him or met him or watched his work will ever forget him. Perhaps it still hurts for some to talk about him.”
The ungenerous side of me wanted to say GET A LIFE. The man, a very lovely and wonderful man, is dead. He’s been gone from this world for almost two years. Yes, people remember him. Yes, people miss him. But hello, the whole point is to MOVE ON. GET A LIFE. Remember him, but don’t obsess about him. What use is that? Appreciate his work, but move on and enjoy other things.
I almost started to write that perhaps she meant well, but upon re-reading her words, she did not. So I hope my response doesn’t offend anyone. Of course, no one has posted since my post, so maybe some people don’t like what I said.
Oh well.

Oh, a short reply from my friend. Maybe he’ll remember to email me. 😛
It’s funny how my dog Meggie walks the brick path on her way back into the house. She could walk on the grass, but she takes the brick path instead. Smart, eh? 😉
We watched The Order. I rather liked it. Interesting movie…
Tomorrow, the dentist. BLAH!
