Daily Review Online – Sports: “OOPS: After two publicized incidents of fan violence this year, the A’s were under the watchful eye of league security supervisor Kevin Hallinan on Thursday afternoon.
In other words, it was a bad time for a young woman to climb over the visiting dugout, do a cartwheel on the way to visit Mark Mulder and then stand on the mound facing the A’s pitcher. That didn’t stop her, though, and neither did stadium security guards in the bottom of the seventh inning.
‘I was just caught off guard,’ Mulder said. ‘All I could think of was to back off. She asked if she could have the ball to throw and I said, ‘No, I can’t.’ She said, ‘OK,’ and walked away.’
The woman was cheered, while Macha was booed on his way to talk to Mulder in the ninth inning.
‘I didn’t do a cartwheel,’ Macha explained.”
