A decorated plate… the scrapbook pages I did during the evening…
Saturday recap follows after the cut…
My friend Jessica is getting married next month. In Italy! Last night was her bridal shower (her bachelorette is next weekend), hosted by our friend Missy. Twas an intimate gathering, with only a few of us in attendance, but it was very nice. We spent most of the afternoon/evening making pages for Jessica’s scrapbook. I’ve only ever done one scrapbook page my entire life, but I had a great time doing what turned out to be three pages. 😆 I took pictures of all the pages, but the ones above are all mine.

Jessica and her cake… Michele and Jessica looking over the scrapbook pages… Missy, me, and Jessica… the flowers on the cake….
I am so excited for Jessica. I’ve known her since our days at the movie theatre, just before she graduated from high school. My first trip away from home without my parents was to Hawaii with Jessica and our friends Gail and Katie. We had such a great time out there. Jessica was one of my bridesmaids and we ended up being bridesmaids together in three other weddings. I wish her the very best, of course. And she starting off quite nicely with a wedding in Italy…
I haven’t been to Missy’s house in over a year and she’s done some nice work with it! She wants to get her degree in interior design and I told her I would gladly be her guinea pig. My house is so untouched and would love the attention. 😆
Before I left Missy’s (at about midnight!), she gave me some A’s stuff that her parents got from a game they attended. They got autographs from a couple of players and I got the autographs– one Nick Swisher (SWISH!) and two Eric Chavez!!! I wish I could have been there to see them sign the cards. I would have taken a picture with them too. Maybe next year. 😉
Texas 6, Oakland 7 at McAfee Coliseum

Oakland Runs: 7, Hits: 10, Errors 0
HR: TEX: M. Teixeira (43)
Oakland Record:(85-69)
Woohoo, the A’s won! I got to watch a very little bit of it before heading out to the bridal shower. I managed to see them get that insurance run. Most glorious. 😀
But yikes, the Cardinals lost! I only mention them because it was freakin’ Mulder who lost in what turned out to be the shortest outing of his major league career. One and two thirds innings. He only managed to get five outs?! Ye gods!
“Me and Carp were saying, in like the second inning, when I was up here already, they must have the best team in baseball right now,” Mulder said. “I don’t know. It happened so quick I wasn’t even mad about it. Carp came in and we just kind of joked about it. ‘Best offense ever.’ They killed us. I know I didn’t make very good pitches today, so I think any big-league team is going to hit that.”
“It’s just one of those days,” Mulder said. “There’s nothing you can do about it. I felt really good. It was probably one of my best bullpens of the year, that’s what’s funny, warming up. But I just had probably a little bit too much energy.
“It had been a while since I pitched, and I tried to throw a little bit more in the bullpen. That’s not in any way an excuse. It’s just, the ball was up and everything was over the middle of the plate. That explains enough.”
–Mulder on yesterday’s game
I always like the Mulder quotes, so I post them when I see them. Especially when they’re more than “I made my pitches” or “I just didn’t make my pitches.” 😛 But darn it if he doesn’t always say something like “I felt really good” no matter if he wins or loses.
