hardly noticed

has it been that long
so many yesterdays ago
we smiled with mischief
we laughed with delight
never caught without a plan
has it been that long
nights faded to memories
we whispered to the stars
we sang our secrets to the breeze
letting go so easily
has it been that long
dreams skipped aside
we pushed away
we turned our eyes
onward to different paths
has it been so long
so forgotten
we’ve hardly noticed?
