CGE2K5 and crabs for dinner

We woke up late, but managed to get ourselves to the Classic Gaming Expo 2005 in Burlingame. We’ve never gone before and it was pretty cool! Our friend is part of Digital Press and he ran into us when we were in line to buy our tickets. CGE was held at the Hyatt. Nice hotel!

Mini arcade table games… Ms Pac-Man in all her arcade glory… the Digital Press table (my friend is on the left)… an Atari game that made me laugh…

More pictures and how the rest of Saturday went…

Asteroids is in there somewhere… Airwolf… Digital Press again and a glimpse of a really tall girl in green… Ms Pac-Man in action…

Arcade games lined the walls and they were free to play. I wanted to play Asteroids so bad! I had to wait until the very end. I sucked. I died three times in a span of *maybe* five minutes. Bah! Someone was waiting for the game and when I stepped away, he talked to me a little. Called me a novice! I replied that it had been a long time. Me, a novice! He went on to tell me how he plays Asteroids and I just smiled and nodded. When I walked away, I huffed to myself that I was probably playing that game before he was born! (Okay, and then I felt very old with that thought.)

The Atari console… a huge cardboard display of Pac-Man… we had Colleco Vision!!!… funny cow smiling…

It was weird seeing some of the games and consoles I grew up with. On the one hand, I was delighted by the retro feeling. On the other, I felt a bit old. 😛

Just had to get a shot of the ST:TNG game… Commodore computer… toys!… playing wirelessly…

Twas more boys than girls at this event. Of course. 😉 One gal (I think she worked or knew someone at the Messiah table) was TALL. She had little heels on, but she was still TALL. Most of the females there were either 1) moms to boys who like classic games, 2) wives/girlfriends to boys who like classic games, or 3) females part of the tables. I guess I fall into the 2 category, although I did find some of the stuff rather fascinating. 😉

dinner!!!
Mmmm, crabs!

After our CGE adventure in Burlingame, we headed to Livermore for dinner with the in-laws. On the menu was crabs shipped from Baltimore. Mmmmmm! I love sitting down and eating crabs. I was hungry too, so I ate a lot. 😆 It’s great fun cracking the crabs open, Old Bay spicing up the crab and the hands. I drank three bottles of Hawaiian Punch during dinner. 😀

Oh yes, and baseball was played. 😛

alas Kansas City 2, Oakland 1 at McAfee Coliseum

Winning pitcher – Mike Wood (4-4)
Losing pitcher – Barry Zito (11-10)

SV – Mike MacDougal (16)

Kansas City Runs: 2, Hits: 4, Errors 2
Oakland Runs: 1, Hits: 6, Errors 0

Oakland Record:(68-54)

Why did the A’s let the Royals snap their 19 game losing streak at the Coliseum? Poor! Sure, good for the Royals that they didn’t break the losing streak record, but bad for the A’s to be the one to lose to them! Grrrrr!

Anyhoo, I finished reading The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde and now I want to read the other Thursday Next stories. Ye gods!
