The Company Party

Yesterday was the company party at the in-laws house. (They own the company, hence the party at their place.) In past years, the weather had co-operated by not being so hot. Not so this year! Twas SWELTERING, no breeze until late in the afternoon– just downright uncomfortable. But that aside, it was a nice time. 🙂

I took lots of pictures. For those and some musings, click

I should probably say that the party was really for family and friends, but many of the people invited were company folks. It’s nice that we can all hang out together, eh? Even if some people don’t want to get up and sing during the karaoke. 😉

Getting ready for the pool… two moms… musicians under the sun… jumping into the pool… belly dancing entertainment… hanging out with my new friend…

The party was in the backyard. The pool was quite inviting (I only sat on the side and stuck my legs in). The kids (there were lots of kids!) frolicked in the water under the watchful (?) eye of the teenage lifeguard. The adults tried to stay cool in the shade, but some (like my parents) opted to hang out inside the house with the air conditioning. 😛

During the day, I made a little friend. When I was sitting poolside, she was in the pool with her cousin and for some reason wanted to me to hold her. So I did and later on she had me put her on my lap. She was cool. Didn’t cry but once and that was because she wanted to go back to her cousin. 😆 Babies are so cute.

salads… coals on fire… BEER… ducky says come out and swim… remnants of the veggie platter… cooling off in the water…

The food. Mmmmmm. Back Forty Texas BBQ is always great! And they are always hired to cater the backyard parties. 😉 The bbq sauce was so tasty! And the meat, yum. See, I could never NOT eat meat. 😛

old married couple… cute couple… watching the jump… trying to stay cool in the shade…

We had music (live, karaoke) and dancing (belly dancing by Miss D and a little bit of the regular stuff at the end of the party) and chatting and drinking and just trying to stay freakin’ cool.

fellas… sisters… we process!… eating and resting…

I had a good time. If the weather had co-operated, it would have been most excellent. It was so hot (how hot was it?!) that when I went back for seconds (yeah, the food was that good), I couldn’t pick up the tongs. The food guy was wiping down the tongs and got to mine and instead of wiping it down and handing it to me, he went ahead and picked out a piece of corn for me. Sweetness! But yeah, it was freakin’ that hot!

The ones who got paid to be there: Food by Back Forty Texas BBQ (pics 1 & 3)… the lifeguard (pic 2)… on the drums at the end (wow, multi-talented!)

The food folks did a great job, of course. And the lifeguard? Well, he probably should have told the little ones that they shouldn’t jump off the diving board two at a time. 😛 Geez!

Miss D’s boyfriend was great. He got up and sang so many times because most everyone else were wimps and wouldn’t go up and sing. What’s up with that?

The kids had no cares. They wanted only the water. Jumping in it. Playing in it. Splashing in it. Ahhh, youth. 😉

And oh yes, I was being a total nerd by keeping track of the A’s game on my Treo. Ahhh, technology rules! And I was a happy A’s chick when the final out recorded. Hot damn, I love them. 😀
