The business of baseball…

So, the A’s traded away Chad Bradford in one deal, then Eric Byrnes in another. I wasn’t so surprised about Bradford, but I was a bit about Byrnes. 🙁 My favorite moments about each:

Chad Bradford – The hubby and I got into a habit of calling him Rad Chad. Don’t know why. The thing I will ALWAYS remember about Bradford is that he was the winning pitcher on my 30th birthday. The A’s were playing the Blue Jays and Tim Hudson was the starter. Hudson pitched NINE innings, but it went past the ninth and Bradford was the last pitcher on the mound at game’s end. And the A’s won. On my birthday! And I was there to see it! 😀

Eric Byrnes – I will always love Byrnes’ enthusiasm on the field. I had one almost encounter with him. It was at one of the Tristar Shows. I had just had my Mulder moment or something and the hubby and I were walking back to the tables to look at cards and such. While we milled around with the crowd, Byrnes stopped a bit in front of us. He was looking for someone but no one really noticed him. I could have stopped him right there and asked for a picture with him or something, but I didn’t. Now I think I might regret it a bit. Ah well. I didn’t want to be bothersome. But man, he has big arms. Rarr! 😉

I wish the both of them the very best with their new clubs…
