Diamond Level living…

my new phone, the black Razr
My new phone, the Motorola RAZR V3, in black. 😉

Yes, I got a new phone for my bday!!! I’m still going to use my P910a, but when I want to carry something smaller, I’m using the RAZR. Isn’t it HOT? Yowsa! THANK YOU SWEETIE!!! 🙂

Happy Birthday to me!
My bday cake at work, my flowers at work, with my cousins (and dog), my bday cake baked by my cousin…

Twas a bummer that I had to work on my birthday. I can’t remember the last time I had to go into work on my birthday. It was likely when I worked at the jail. 😛 Anyhoo, work wasn’t so bad. I got a cake and flowers from my co-worker (THANKS JEN!). Mmmm, cake from Goldilocks. Delicious!

Then it was game time…

Ahhh, Diamond Level...
Our tickets for the game, the two of us in our seats, the view from our seats, the handstamped “DL”

We parked in the Visiting Team’s lot. The tunnel entrance was right there, but we had to wait until it was clear for us to go in. We went through a hallway, then waited at the entrance to the Diamond Level. At the mouth of the entrance down, the lady on top gave us a rundown of what to expect. Stay on the left (going down), don’t stop to talk to the players, we would be right on the field. The distance from the pitcher to the batter would be more than the distance between us and the batter. We’d be closer to the batter than the pitcher was! After the umps passed us (yeah, the Blue Crew!), she told us to go down.

“First timers coming!” We were stopped after a bit and once again we were told to stay on the left, don’t stop, and don’t talk to the players. As I looked down the hall, I saw Kenny Rogers (yeah, Kenny!) limping up on our side. I wanted to say, “But Kenny Rogers is coming up on our side, what do I do?” 😆 He moved over before we got to him.

Finally, down at the Diamond Level. The fella at the counter stamped our tickets and our hand and showed us our seats. We were seats one and two, second row, on the Rangers side. Right in front of us was the net, then the field. To our right was the walkway for the players.

but too close to the Rangers...
Rangers ahead, good view of some Ranger butts, see the A’s batter?, Chan Ho Park stops for the fans (what are Ranger fans doing in Oakland?!)

We were so close to the Rangers. They were RIGHT THERE. The on deck circle was in front of us, so whenever the Rangers were up, they were in front of us. I never thought I’d see so many baseball player behinds during a game. 😆 And it was weird, I never considered how tall any of the Rangers were, but I never thought some of them were so short. 😛 Oh, except for the boy on the mound. Chris Young is 6’10”. Ye gods!

we were so close to the field...
Teixeira swinging the bat, empty seats towards the end of the game, looking back at our seats, the on deck circle…

We had our very own server, Romano. Is that right? Anyhoo, he brought us our food and drinks. I had nachos first, then a hotdog, then an ice cream sandwich. For drinks (we got two alcoholic drinks and unlimited soda), I had a beer and a Smirnoff Ice. Free (relatively) food rocks!

I LOVED being so close to the field. It would have been even cooler if we were on the A’s side. It was weird, everytime I looked over at the A’s on deck circle, it was Adam Melhuse swinging the bat. 😆 And I stared at him because he was facing us and I could see his eyes. Awesome! But why didn’t I try to check out the other A’s players? 😀 (Oh, not that I was checking out Melhuse.)

We had drunk people behind us. Two women and a man. The man apparently gets the “Hey, you look like Kevin James” thing but I never turned around to look at him. The women were hardly ever silent. After more than a few drinks (the one woman spilled red wine on her outfit!), the women commented on the Ranger butts. Twas HILARIOUS! “You know, the Rangers have nice butts. I hate to say this, but the A’s don’t really have nice butts.” Something like that. 😉

It was a GREAT time. The only negatives: the A’s lost and I didn’t have my regular camera. But hey, there’s always next time. 😉 I’m going to be spoiled with not paying for parking for the games! It’s so cool going in with a parking pass. 😆

So, if you EVER get the chance to sit Diamond Level style, DO IT. It’s definitely a WONDERFUL experience. 😀
