A rainy Saturday…

Toweling off….

My day after appointment was short. The doctor changed one of my prescriptions. I have to do one of my eyedrops every hour. Bah! But only until Monday. Hopefully I can just do the every four hours thing after that day. 😛 My eyesight is improving, but definitely still fluctuating. I could drive if I had to. 😉

We had lunch, then hit the mall after my appointment. (It took us too long to get back to the Central Valley. Why can’t people drive in the rain?!) I bought two pairs of sunglasses! One Ray Ban and the other Bolle. Stylin’. 😉 I should take pictures of them. LOL! I also got two t-shirts, one A’s and one Cardinals. Zito on one, Pujols on the other.

Too bad my first days of seeing with new eyes are rainy days. Ah well!

New eyes!

19 March 2005

But first, the entry that didn’t make it:

Last entry before lasik

I’m off to the eye doctor in less than 15 minutes, so this will be my
last entry before Lasik. Wish me luck!

Why must it rain though? I have to walk across the street and I’d
prefer to be dry when I get there. Alas.

Oh yes, Happy Friday!

And back to today…

I tried emailing that entry above but alas, it didn’t make it!

I can see without my glasses! But it’s still a little cloudy/hazy. But I can see! I’m told to use the artificial tears constantly. And so I will. 😉

The worse part about the surgery was the WAITING. I got there at 12:30pm, as directed. Sat around, got checked in, sat around, got prepped for surgery (along with five other people), sat around, got prepped by the surgeon, sat around. In the last bit of sitting around, I wondered who would be first as I watched the nurses prepare the room (the walls are glass, so you can watch someone getting their lasik done if they’re on the closest table). I ended up first! And I ended up on the table closest to the glass walls. So yes, people were watching me get my eyes lasered. 😛

I remember “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson playing as I waited for the doctor, but I don’t remember the song after. One of the other patients was brought in as I waited and he was prepped as well. But I was first.

Twas a WEIRD sensation, but the procedure didn’t hurt. When the laser started, I smelled a strange smell and I wondered if it was the laser on my eye. 😛 My left eye was done first, then my right. The right one was more uncomfortable for some reason, but not unbearable.

All in all, it was perhaps ten minutes. When I walked back into the waiting room, someone marveled at how fast it was. When you’re on the table, it doesn’t feel fast. Even with the nurse counting down the seconds. But then again, it didn’t feel like an eternity either.

I couldn’t do anything after the surger. No tv, no computer, no reading, no video games. So I slept a lot and “listened” to the tv. Okay, I glanced over a couple of times. But I never got on the computer. 😛

Now I get to see what it’s like to take a shower with the new eyes…

Ides of March

15 March 2005

And so here we are in the middle of March. Can’t believe how time is flying! 😀

My eye exam and consultation went well on Monday. I scheduled my surgery for next Monday, but today re-scheduled it for Friday. Ye gods! I will have new eyes this time next week. Scary. 😀

Baseball moment…

I’m still not used to the new uniform *and* new number…

I don’t feel that same baseball energy that I had last year, but I feel it simmering just beneath the surface. I’m going to go baseball crazy soon, right? I’m waiting. It’s coming…

Remembering Kevin Tod Smith…

Tomorrow (today if you’re in New Zealand or it’s already the 16th when you read this) would have been Kevin’s 42nd birthday. And just as February 15/16 is a day to remember him, so is today…

The Kevin Smith Trust Fund

The whole Xena thing is so cool!

I just want to show off my interview on the Xena DVD. LOL! It’s just so silly! But I think it’s way cool and now there’s total evidence of my geekiness. I love it!

Immodest and lazy…

Xena Warrior Princess Season 6 DVD set…

Everyone should go and get it! Why? Because you can watch the featurette and see your favorite blogger chick being somewhat of a nerd. LOL! Here’s some evidence:

Yeah, that’s me…

And yes, isn’t it totally GEEKY of me to do screencaptures of myself? Who would have thought it would ever come to that? Ahhh, the wonders of being a fanchick. LOL! The cool thing is that I actually sound somewhat normal while I’m talking. 😛 It feels cool to be part of the featurette. I’m part of the whole Xena thing and anyone who buys the season 6 DVD set will see it. Of course, who’s really going to watch the featurette? LOL!

The week in Lake Tahoe through pictures…

We had a lovely lazy week in Lake Tahoe. The weather was MAGNIFICENT! Sunny and cool, with a windy day thrown in. But no snow or rain, which made it perfect. Beautiful!

The view from our first room

Our first room at the Embassy Vacation Resort was on the fifth floor. The view was very nice, but the noise was intolerable! When we went to bed, the walls were a dull rumble. The husband had to get our room changed. We ended up on the first floor, which wasn’t too bad. Much quieter!

The view from our first floor room…

We didn’t have a view of the mountains or the lake, but it was still decent. The snow was piled up in the courtyard area. It’s been a long time since I’ve been so close to fallen snow…

The casinos on the Nevada side…

We hit the casinos three days out of the time we were there. On our last day I totally won at the slot machines. LOL! I actually ended up breaking even, but since I don’t keep track of my money, I’ll just say I won. 😉

The lake and mountains….

The sun sets as we eat dinner at the Chart House…

The hubby’s birthday was Tuesday the 8th and we took advantage of our Chart House gift card and had dinner there on Thursday night. We had a spectacular view of the lake and mountains as we ate our food. I had filet mignon and lobster. Delicious! Good service too. 🙂 Oh, and expensive. Good thing we had the gift card!

Dance instructions on tv… Byrnes… Chavez… George as my favorite CSI Stokes…

We watched A LOT of television. SpikeTV rocks! They show Star Trek The Next Generation (and Deep Space Nine) and CSI. I watched a lot of CSI. I’m such a nerd!

And even though I bought some postcards, I never filled them out. So sorry to everyone I was going to send postcards too. I know, I suck. Oh well.

Back home early…

listening to... “Shame on Me” – Ryan Cabrera

And I’m blogging already? Of course!

After the Syracuse game (yeehaw, they won!) we left room 121A and headed home. We decided we’d rather go to sleep in our own bed. Hotel pillows are so uncomfortable! 😛

The vacation week was nicely spent. Lazy days! I should have written something each day, but we didn’t do much. We walked to the Nevada side a couple of times, hit the casinos, etc. We also rented movies (the aforementioned Timeline and Napoleon Dynamite, as well as Donnie Darko and Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle). I liked all the movies we rented! LOL!

Friday was a “real” movie at the theatre, the Bruce Willis flick Hostage. I cannot remember the last time I’ve gone to a Friday opening. LOL! Cool movie, lots of action and drama. After the movie I got my hair cut, then won at the slot machine. Ducky! 😀

Okay, more later perhaps. Sleeptime now!

Greetings from Lake Tahoe!

7 March 2005

It’s a good thing being on vacation. I don’t mind that it’s Monday. 😉

The weather is lovely here. Sunshiny and cool. We’ve already walked up to the casinos and I played the slot machines. They make such lovely noises. LOL!

I’ve already managed to watch CSI (must love syndication!) and lots of Food Network. 😉 We rented Garden State yesterday. Cool movie. We got a card at Video Maniacs and we’ve got Timeline and Napoleon Dynamite waiting for us in the room. Right now we’re in the lobby area. The only place with wireless internet. Yes, technology rules. 😀

Our biggest drama so far was our first night. We were originally in 522A but when we went to bed, the noise was intolerable. Turns out the boiler room was behind our room (or some nonsense like that) and they could do nothing about it. So we moved to the first floor to a much quieter room.

Today has been a lazy day. We woke up and watched tv and left the room for dinner at Chevy’s across the street. Or was it lunch? Let’s call it an early dinner. LOL!

And here we are at The Bear Moon Bar and Grill. We’re in the bar area, which is part of the lobby. I’ve noticed that a lot of men/boys work in the area. Not a lot of women. For instance, the front desk. All boys! Strange.

I’d add pictures but I haven’t taken many. I might try to remember to send to Buzznet more often. I think I’ve sent one out. 😉

Til next time, my dear readers! 😀

I’m officially on vacation!

Happy Freakin’ Friday!!!

I’m a super happy chick right now. It’s officially the start of my vacation and I’m already home from work. I love getting off early on Fridays. Yeehaw! 😀

Twas raining a bit on the way to work, but it was mostly dry on the way home. I had the moonroof open for part of the way. Yah! I love blasting the stereo and having the moonroof back. Splendid!
