“Dance Me to the End of Love” by Madeleine Peyroux
Yesterday we celebrated my parents’ 35th wedding anniversary. 35 years! My sister and her fiancรฉ flew from Atlanta the night before. The gathering was mostly family and a few of my parents’ friends. It was very nice to know almost all the people at the party. My parents seem to have gatherings where I only know about half the people. It’s strange.

My parents, the cake, my parents and sister and me
I brought my video camera, so I ended up not taking as many pictures as I might usually take. Under one hundred photos is pretty good for me. ๐
One of my cousins has an import/export store in Sacramento and she brought a bunch of magic scarves. I ended up buying two! One dark green (of course!) and the other purple. I think I bought the purple one because of what I was wearing. LOL!

My niece modeling one of the magic scarves, my grandmothers resting her eyes, my sister and cousin talking wedding stuff, five lovely ladies (right?! right!)…
I wish my sister and her fiancรฉ would visit for longer than a day. They fly back home today, so they were basically here for one day. No fair! I wanted them to see our new furniture. ๐ And I just miss my sister bunches. And I want to get to know my future brother-in-law. He already calls me “sis.” Sweetness. ๐

The couples shot!… Newlyweds, two in love, old married people, engaged ones
I wanted a picture of the eight of us together, but we were never all in the same room at once. Actually, seven of us were conversing in my sister’s old room (which is the tiniest room in the house!) and the hubby was in the pool room keeping cool and playing pool with my other cousins and uncle. Ah well, next time!

Four cousins being slightly silly…
The four of us are the youngest of our cousins. When we were growing up, we all hung out and we’re like sisters. Best friends because of blood and love. ๐ It’s good to know people all your life and even better when you’re friends.

More family shots… three sisters with their mom, my mom and cousin, my mother-in-law and sister-in-law, me with my niece, my other niece with my sister…
So when I say niece or nephew, I actually mean the children of my cousins. My sister and I have not yet procreated to have “real” nephews and nieces. ๐ It’s complicated and doesn’t make sense to some people, but it works for our family. LOL!
I had a most lovely time. I love getting together with my family and I love when my sister visits. I hope everyone else had a good time too. My parents didn’t open their gifts though. Bah! I wonder what they got…
