Yes, I ‘m a wannabe tech geek. I was sad when I found out the Leo LaPorte was no
longer on Call for Help or any of the other TechTV shows and then I rejoiced when
he came back. And then I was angry when I found out that TechTV and G4 were going
to merge. “What will happen to my shows?!” I lamented.
Well, The Screen Savers is going to make it through the merge. Huzzah! (But not, alas, Call for Help.) I’m happy for TSS because I’ve really become attached to the show. (Though the one guy is kinda scary. I’ll leave you to figure out which one.)
Anyhoo, onward! Sarah’s Download of the Day was a free (woohoo!) program called YahooPOPs! If you have a Yahoo account and long to check it through your email client, this might be the program for you. After a bit of tweaking, it works fine for me! Happy happy joy joy! And no, you’re not violating your user license or whatever because the program goes through Yahoo for you and it’s like you’re using Yahoo except you’re not using your browser. So for example, the (lame) siggy at the bottom of each email sent through the free Yahoo email service is still attached when you send mail. As long as you configure the program right. I’m sure you could configure your email client to send from a different SMTP. But I’m not going to chance it. 😉
The Perfect Game
I can’t believe I didn’t mention this last night. What kind of freakin’ baseball fan am I?
Randy Johnson threw the perfect game last night. We watched the highlights on SportsCenter last night. It was amazing. I wish I had been watching the game in real time. But since I’m not a Braves fan or Diamondbacks fan or even a Randy Johnson fan, there was no reason for me to watch. But the deed is worth mentioning because there have only been 17 perfect games. (A couple of no hitters could be argued as perfect games, but officially they are not.) So I mention it because I find it one of the most fascinating things about the game of baseball. One of my fondest wishes is to witness in real time a Perfect Game.
So, many congratulations to Randy Johnson. An amazing feat!
