“I’ve Got the World on a String” by Frank Sinatra
I LOVED my other layout. And if it wasn’t baseball season, I think that layout would have been around longer than less than a month. Oh well.
Besides the obvious theme change, the layout is only slightly tweaked. I like using tables to center the content. Instead of having the menu stuff on the left, it’s on the right this time. It’s called “version: just another play for today” because (and this is the long story) I was at Wil Wheaton’s site yesterday and the title of his entry was “luck has left me standing tall,” which very much reminded of a line in a song. I looked up the song lyrics online and lo there it was. One of the other lines in the song was “just another play for today” and I thought, hey, very baseball. So not only did I use the line for yesterday’s entry title, I decided to use it for this layout.
Now, from what song did I get that line?
Let me be a whiny bee-ah-tch now
I sent out invitations to our anniversary party a few of weeks ago. The last day to RSVP is April 10. In the invitation, I EXPLICITLY noted that the party is catered and PLEASE when responding to include the number of people in the group. We need a rough headcount, so I think I worded in a way that should have been easily understood. I left an email address and phone number for the RSVP. Easy, right?
When I was growing up, I think my parents called everyone to invite them to parties. Likewise, we got calls for family gatherings. It’s probably a good way to touch base and a more instant method of compiling your guestlist.
But wonderful as the telephone is, so is good old fashioned postal mail. Right, not email, but postal mail. Isn’t nice to get mail in your mailbox? And oh, there’s also technology like email! Email rocks! 😀
My rant is this: most of my family has NOT RSVP’d. It’s really FRUSTRATING because I took the time to make the invitations (albeit on my computer), I stuffed the envelopes, and now I must wait. Do I take silence as a no show? Or do I take it as a “we’ll be there”? I’m not supposed to call everyone and ask them, am I? If I was going to do that, I wouldn’t have sent the invitations in the first place.
I would like to know who’s going to be a the party. And if they’re not coming, I’d like to know that too. Is it so difficult to respond?
No baseball today, but tomorrow…
We’re going to the game! Woohoo!!! Have I said how much I just LOVE the Husband? Well, I DO! 😀
