GEORGE STRAIT, DIERKS BENTLEY, KELLIE COFFEY

listening to... “Ain’t Going Down (Til the Sun Comes Up)” by Garth Brooks

THE CONCERT WAS AWESOME!!!

First off, we had GREAT seats. We had four rows of the floor seats in front of us and we were the first row of the regular section. We were almost center of the stage. It was so cool!

See, nice view of the stage, eh?

KELLIE COFFEY

Miss Kellie Coffey was FANTASTIC. She has a strong voice, great stage presence and energy, a groovy band, and good songs. She was so much fun on stage. She really worked the whole “in the round” thing. She walked the whole stage whereas the guys would later do one song on each of the four sides. She moved around a lot more.

Kellie Coffey

I’m going to have to get her new cd when it comes out in April. What is it with country music and their release dates? Kellie’s “Texas Plates” song has been on the radio for at least a couple of months, but the video debuts on CMT tomorrow and her CD doesn’t come out until April. Ye gods! But I must say, she’s great on stage.

DIERKS BENTLEY

Dierks was good. He sounded great! He opened up with “Bartenders, etc.” I bet I was one of the only ones who knew that song almost word for word. LOL! He didn’t work the stage the same way Kellie did. He would do a song at each side. But he was still very good.

Dierks Bentley

Dierks also had his bass player sing a song. Michelle Poe. I might have to get her CD when it comes out. Her song “Just One of the Boys” was a fun song.

Dierks’ songlist from the Atlanta show (from CMT):

“Bartenders, Etc. …”
“How Am I Doin'”
“Wish It Would Break”
“One of the Boys” [Michelle Poe]
“My Last Name”
“What Was I Thinkin'”

I think that was most of it for us too. Definitely the first and last song. 😉

GEORGE STRAIT

As Dierks calls him, the King of Country.

King George

His set list from the Atlanta show (from CMT):

“Honk If You Honky Tonk”
“Check Yes or No”
“I Can Still Make Cheyenne”
“Stars on the Water”
“Run”
“Love Bug”
“Murder on Music Row”
“Amarillo By Morning”
“Blue Clear Sky”
“When Did You Stop Loving Me”
“Heartland”
“The Chair”
“Write This Down”
“She’ll Leave You With a Smile”
“Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind”
“Take Me Back to Tulsa”
“Milkcow Blues”
“The Fireman”
“Tell Me Something Bad About Tulsa”
“Cowboys Like Us”
“My Life’s Been Grand”
“Desperately”
“The Best Day”
“Unwound”
“The Road Less Traveled”
“Folsom Prison Blues”
“The Cowboy Rides Away”

First and last songs were the same for us and most of the middle too. I can’t remember all of the songs. LOL!

Mr. George doesn’t need to do more than stand, sing, strum, and smile and the crowd goes WILD! And really, that’s all he really does. He doesn’t need to do more. He did about two songs each side, working the stage that way.

What can I say, he’s George Strait. I love his songs and he sounds great. During “Amarillo by Morning” I used the movie function on my camera. The clip came out all right. 😉

All in all, a fantastic concert experience! The Save Mart Center is new and very very nice. The crowd was interesting to watch. I almost got annoyed with a guy in the fourth row on the floor who kept wavin his hat up everytime I wanted to take a picture of George. But hey, it was all good. Definitely worth the long drive and the ticket price…

THE REST OF THE DAY…

I spent the morning on the phone with my cousin. Her dad passed away on Tuesday, so we talked for a long time. She sounded all right, considering. It was great talking with her and I was glad I waited until I had lots of time to be on the phone. I think we were on the phone for about 2 hours. 😀

When Husband came home, we loaded up the dogs in the truck and headed out to Livermore. They get to sleep over for a few nights while we do our thing.

The drive to Fresno wasn’t so bad. Not much going on and I think it was two lane after Modesto. Ye gods! And then the 8 mile drive down Shaw to the Save Mart Center was a bit long. 😛 Driving home was all right. I didn’t have to drive, of course, but I was still tired when we got home. And I’m still tired now! LOL!

Tomorrow, BURBANK!
