More words on the TriStar Show

The pictures I posted yesterday are from the 16th Annual Labor Day Weekend Collectors Show in San Francisco. It’s the big cards and collectibles show that TriStar puts on every year. And every year it just seems to get smaller. Alas!

As far as all the cards and collectibles, we’re noticing a definite decline in dealers. I did end up buying a few things, most notably the Ramon Hernandez bobblehead. It’s so cute! The hubby only spent $7 on a card. Nothing else really caught his eye. Oh well!

The big reason I wanted to go was for the photo ops with the A’s players. Attending from the A’s were Mark Mulder, Tim Hudson, Rich Harden, Eric Byrnes, and Erubiel Durazo. They were doing autographs as well, of course, but I wanted the photo! I originally intended on pictures with Hudson, Mulder, and Harden, but I later decided to forego the Harden one, even though he is a total cutie! 😉 I definitely wanted one with Hudson because I wanted to complete my “Big Three” collection.

A little bit before noon, we gathered around the photo op corner. Almost everyone there was there to take a picture with Hudson. I think I was one of the only ones to have one for both. Mulder came hobbling out of nowhere and suddenly I was handing my ticket to the lady and coming up to Mulder.

Mark Mulder is TALL. It doesn’t help that I’m on the taller side of SHORT, but man, he is so tall. Still a handsome man, of course. I think we said hello and he asked how I was. I said fine and asked how he was. I think he said he was all right. I put my arm around his waist, he put his arm around my shoulders and we faced the photographer, who said he would take two pictures of us, which he did. Of course, it was over all too soon and I looked up at Mulder and said thanks and he looked down at me and said sure thing. Or something like that. I don’t really remember. Geez.

He definitely took a picture with someone else, but I think that was it. 😛 He left all too soon, hobbling away on his crutches. Poor thing! 🙁

Hudson was next and I stood back with the waiting crowd. While there, the hubby saw Jen (who had been on the other side of the room taking pictures of Harden and Byrnes, who had been signing autographs). She started coming our way and I called out her name. Ha, I saw her first! 😀 At about the same time, Harden was making his way to the photo ops corner. Jen and I chatted a little while Harden stood there and waited for his fans. 😉 He’s so cute! Jen told me about showing him the pics of last year’s A’s rookies and the outfits they had to wear out one day. I think she effectively scared young Harden. LOL! I really did wish I had taken a picture with Harden. So freakin’ cute!

FINALLY, Hudson appeared. It was weird, suddenly he was there! LOL! I was the second or third person to take a picture with him. The little girl next to me froze, I think, and her mom was trying to get her to move. 😀 Ticket to the lady, then I come up to Hudson. We say our hellos and take our picture. I say thank you and he smiles at me. Wow, such blue eyes! And lovely lovely voice. Perhaps I’m just a sucker for deep voiced Southern boys. Yeah, that’s it! And bald too. I should have asked to rub his head. LOL! He was so shiny. 😀

I’m terrible, I didn’t get a chance to really look at Mulder and figure out his eye color. Blah on me! LOL!

After my groovy fangirl moments, we headed back downstairs to the collectors floor and checked out the tables. I bought some LOTR postcards and the Ramon bobblehead, but I was definitely disappointed by the lack of non-sports cards and collectibles. 🙁 Still, it was fun walking around.

Ohh! While we were walking around, I saw Eric Byrnes! It was my chance to say Howdy, can I have a picture? But I totally flaked and just couldn’t catch him fast enough. Oh well!

The PA announced last call for Mark Mulder autographs, so I went back upstairs to take pictures. Last call ended up lasting at least half an hour. I don’t know what I was going to do if he actually got up to leave. It’s not like I could have asked for another picture with him since I was alone at the time. Instead, I stood to the side and took a BUNCH of pictures of Mulder and Hudson. I felt like a total stalker chick! LOL! I don’t think Hudson ever noticed, but Mulder looked over at least twice. Ye gods!

The second time Mulder looked over, he was obviously finished with the autographing. I had my camera pointed at him and as you can see, he’s looking right at me. Yikes! Yeah, so I’m a dork. Hey, at least I wasn’t wearing my Mulder jersey. Now that would have been totally nerdy, right? 😀

The pictures I took with Mulder and Hudson should be here in ten business days. That translates into about two weeks, eh? I don’t want to wait that long! I hope that I filled out the information on the back of the ticket right. Hey, they’ve got my email address at least. 😉

We left the show about an hour or so later. We went to the Stanford Shopping Center, then to Fry’s in Fremont. We got back to the Central Valley after dark. A long day…

My comments thingy isn’t working, which sucks! Thanks to Steph for the TAG. 😉 And Jen, hurry home from work and blog about your day yesterday! 😀
