My Trevor Phone Call
13 November 2000

Thank you to Kacie for sharing her phone encounter with Trevor. Yes, he called us on the same exact day! :) Sorry it took me so long to get this online!...
Well, this week has been interesting. Awhile back I signed up to be part of the soulDecision E-Squad. It's basically their fan club, and you get e-mails and stuff like that…just updates. It's been pretty cool. One of the first things I found out was that they were going on tour with *NSYNC…and I thought that that wasn't very fair. THEN I found out that they were going to be at the Mall of America in October, for the opening of Sam Goody Central, former Rotunda (oh the memories that place gives me!). I even told my mom I wanted to go to that, WAY before I found out that soulDecision was going to be there. But that didn't happen. I was kinda of disappointed. But oh well. I figured that would be my only chance to meet them and get an autograph…but from what happened this week…all that could change! Maybe not a lot, but it could do it a little bit.
So anyway...back to the E-Squad thing. They had this contest to vote on TRL and get the guys up to #5. And when that happened a lucky member would get an honest-to-god phone call. I didn't think I could win it, and wasn't getting my hopes up…but it happened! So I got the e-mail last Thursday (the 9th) and I was just shocked.
So yeah. I was getting the call on Monday, the 13th. And for sure, I did. I waited around all afternoon for an off-campus phone call, hoping, and at the same time not hoping, it would be a member of soulDecision...preferably Trevor. So around 8:00pm, the phone rings (I mean it rang a lot before then…but it wasn't anyone from the band...so no importance). I answer it and this guy asks for me. And then he introduced himself and said it was Trevor from soulDecision...even though I really don't remember if he said that he was from the group, but oh well. So I said what's up and stuff...and we started talking. He thanked me for getting them on TRL and voting for the video. I felt kinda guilty, but the most gorgeous man alive was telling me this...what would you do?? Exactly!
Then he went in to ask me how I got involved with the E-Squad and everything. And I told him that I went to the website and signed up for it, and that it basically keeps you up to date on the things that soulDecision was doing. And he told me that he hadn't been online for quite awhile...even though he had gotten a laptop. And he needed to get online to check his e-mail and stuff, so that was cool. And it wasn't because he didn't have time, he just didn't have his laptop with him. Cool beans!
So...he asked me how old I was and I told him I was 19…and he told me I sounded a lot older and the reason he said that was because he had called someone who was 29 and was voting. So that was cool. Then he asked where the 701 area code was from, and I told him North Dakota. He was just like, “What? Is that like in the middle, but north?” And I told him it was next to Minnesota, since I knew they had been to Minneapolis and stuff. And I think he got it then. I even mentioned that I saw them at Last Chance Summer Dance in Minneapolis back in September. He asked me if that was where Fargo was, and I told him that that was where I was at actually…and he was like, “No Way! Why didn't you say that at first?” And I just told him that I didn't know and that I had lived in Fargo my whole life and stuff. He mainly couldn't believe that I didn't have an accent. That damn movie again!! I told him that I had only see parts of the movie, cos I just didn't care to see it and stuff...and that it wasn't even filmed in North Dakota, but in Minnesota. So he thought that that was pretty cool. I guess he has relatives from Fargo or something. Something about how when he was playing up in Winnipeg, he met some people who were from Fargo and he was related to him. Darn, connections! He asked how far away Canada was from Fargo, and I told him that Winnipeg was 3 hours straight north of Fargo. He thought that was cool.
At one point he asked me if I was expecting his call. I just told him that I was kinda of because when they sent me an e-mail about getting the phone call, they needed to know my number and schedule for Monday the 13th because that was when I would be getting the call. And he asked me if it was the 13, and I told him it was. Being on tour all the time must mess up your days a lot! And he said that he was supposed to call at 7 his time, 6 my time. And that I was gone...and I told him I was down eating supper at that time. But he said it was a good thing he called back. Darn…did he have to dial my number again? Yeah!
He asked me if I had ever seen *NSYNC in concert before, and I told him that I had seen them 4 times, and he was like, “wow”. And he asked if I had ever met them, and I told him that I had…when they were at the Mall of America back in '98 before they were big. And he asked if that was when they got water-ballooned on...and I told him that that was a year after I had met them. He also mentioned how it was a good thing that I met them early on, cos now they would be so hard to meet. So true! Back to the *NSYNC concert thing. He asked if I had seen the show they were doing now, and I said I saw it last summer. And he went in to say, “The one that goes “do dodo do do do do...” (like beginning of “No Strings Attached”). It was cute! And I was like, “Yeah, the one where they come down on strings right? Yep.” He had only seen the first 5 songs mainly, and was going to see the rest of them later this week.
Sometimes he just said random stuff, like how his hotel room was really hot so that was why he was so sleepy, cos he was just relaxing in the room that day, on their day off. He even yawned on the phone, but I don't' blame him. Being on tour must take a lot out of him. And how it was nice to be back in their own country again. He also said something that I ALWAYS say! I don't remember what he said exactly…but then he went “yep yep yep”. I almost laughed on the phone. I say that all the time, so that was cool. But the conversation lasted about 10 minutes. I don't' know how I made it through the whole thing without freaking out. But he said he'd hope to see me at a show sometime soon, and I told him that I would definitely try to catch one the nest time they were near Fargo. And he thanked me again for the TRL voting and supporting them and everything. So I said that he was more than welcomed!
He was soooooooooooooo incredibly nice though, like beyond completely nice. I swear he is the first guy I have ever “met” who has been gorgeous and nice at the same time. But he was cool, such a sweetie. I'm making it a goal of mine this year to find them in concert and meet him face-to-face. Might as well make it all happen. Get the phone call, get the autograph, and get a pic...that would be prefect! SoulDecision is definitely my favorite group, besides *NSYNC, at the moment. Truly down to earth guys who LOVE their fans to death. I don't think any other fan club would have that happen to them. I felt honored to be a fan…and I was happy to have had that chance to see them in September. Awesome show! So that was my Monday night. It definitely made my year…definitely. Trevor's a cutie. Oh well, it's worth it!
