soulDecision at the Sacramento Valley Amphitheatre
[opening for Christina Aguilera, 14 September 2000]
by Valerie C. Noble Summary: Just what I remember while watching sD's performance...
After meeting Trevor (see More than a momentary thrill), I was extremely exhilarated. How the heck could I not be? I couldn't wait to see soulDecision perform and of course the anticipation was tinged with the delight of "Omigosh, I met Trevor Guthrie!!"
soulDecision took the stage after a fellow named Christian Davis performed. (Sorry to say, I've never heard of him. Not that I'm too up on the whole pop music thing.) My husband pointed out that some of the band guys were the ones with Trevor when I met him.
And here's the real reason I brought my little journal! I wrote down their set list just for this very purpose. (I suppose I couldn't scanned that too, but it's much too sloppy!)
- I Don't Need Anyone - Ooops, this was the only song title I couldn't remember! But hey, I did know the song.
- Ooh It's Kinda Crazy - I love this song!
- Gravity - My favorite song and said to be the next single off the CD. I adore this song and I couldn't help but sing along. Oh wait, I think I sang along to all the songs!
- Stay - Cool song
- Summer of '69 - Yes, the Bryan Adams song. Oddly enough, it's one of my favorite Bryan Adams song. Okay, so I wasn't even in existence the summer of '69. Hey, neither were they? sD did a fantastic job with it.
- Faded - This song is so sexy sassy. Thrust came out for the rap part and as they say, it was all good...
It was wonderful to see soulDecision live, on stage. They were fantastic! Hopefully they won over some of the crowd. The rest of the concert was cool. Destiny's Child was GREAT! Trevor was right, I really enjoyed their show. Those ladies can sing!
Christina Aguilera was great as well. We didn't stay for all of her show though.
The Sacramento Valley Amphitheatre is a lovely venue. As the performers did their thing on stage, the stars twinkled down and the moon shone misty in the distance. It was the perfect weather for jeans, a short sleeve sweater, and a leather jacket, which is what I wore! The concert was definitely worth the long drive from the Bay Area and the stay at the hotel...
