I met MIKE BORDICK!!!

omigosh, MIKE BORDICK!!!
with Mike Bordick at Oriole Park at Camden Yards

Have I ever mentioned that Mike Bordick was my favorite A’s player back in the day?

I know, I’m skipping days here, but I must tell my Mike Bordick tale while it’s still fresh in my head!

We just entered the gates and the husband asked me if I wanted an official Orioles magazine (we just bought an unofficial one because Eric Byrnes was on the cover). I replied with a why not yes and while he was buying it, I glanced over and saw a man in a number 14 Bordick jersey. And it looked like Mike Bordick! I had to ask the vendor if it was in fact Mike Bordick and he said that it was and I knew I had to say something to him. He was holding a bucket for the donations to the victims of Katrina. A Comcast camera man was standing by and when I came to drop my money, he stopped me and asked me to do it for the camera. The “money shot” as he said. So I had to wait a moment before once again approaching Mr. Mike Bordick. I couldn’t stop smiling! When the camera man said go, I tried it again and dropped my money into Bordick’s bucket.

No one else came around for a moment, so I took the opportunity to tell him that he was my favorite player when he was with the A’s. He smiled and ran a hand over his head and said something about having more hair back then. He asked what I was doing in Baltimore, “chasing the A’s shortstops?” I laughed and mentioned Byrnes too, but told him that we were visiting the area. I asked to take a picture with him (OF COURSE!) and he gladly obliged. Before I left, I introduced myself (so backwards am I, eh?) and we shook hands and he said thank you (for the donation).

I was so stoked about meeting him that I couldn’t truly take in the fact that I was walking through the beautiful and marvelous Oriole Park Camden Yards. :D

A wonderful time at the ballpark. I took lots of pictures! :D I can’t wait to share them. Later.

And yes, I caved and bought a jersey that does not say Mulder on the back. It says Tejada, which is all right, eh?

Camden Yards is absolutely gorgeous isn’t it? Second best field I’ve ever been to. Just out of curiousity, have you ever been to Yankee Stadium? I’m trying to get as many trips in as I can before they move in 2009. :(

Congrats on meeting Mike Bordick. I wish I could meet a baseball player, but I’m never in the right place at the right time.

Kristine – I used to LOVE Mike Bordick. I guess in a way, I still do. ;) And he was so cool! We had a great time back east. I’ll email you soon!

Wah – TOTALLY!!! Everytime I think about it, I smile. Like now. :D

Marci – Camden Yards is super gorgeous!!! I haven’t been to NY, so no on Yankee Stadium. Someday, I want to take a tour of all the ballparks. ;) Seeing Camden Yards and Turner Field made me realize that my darling A’s play in a DUMP. Bah!!!
